Dude there are people who knock back 2 liter bottles of coke every day!
The television advertisements for coca-cola in mexico always have a (required?) message at the bottom that says "always eat fruits and vegetables"
Very true, I bet allot of people consume equivalent "sweetness" amounts of sweetener.
60% of Americans get 20% of their daily calories from added sugar.
4 cans of soda a day would be a huge cutback for many people.
We call them “Americans”.
Controls:
> even if you aren't overweight.
> regardless of a person's age, sex, physical activity level, and body-mass index (a measure of weight).
> or healthy eating habits (fruits & veggies): "Regardless of their Healthy Eating Index scores, people who ate more sugar still had higher cardiovascular mortality,"

The controls might be reasonable but if you eat 200g of added sugar a day (not even total sugar) that's insane.
I looked up some numbers to check and 200g of sugar is an enormous amount. A dozen Krispy Kreme donuts a day doesn't get you there. The only likely way someone is consuming that much sugar while not being overweight is if they constantly drink soda. Unfortunately, that's a decent chunk of the population - some googling comes up with 5%.
Yikes.
I don't think anyone would consider themselves healthy if they are that much.
Research is always important but it's not always interesting...

This is a big deal. The study concludes that it makes you twice as likely to die from CVD. Normally it’s not a big deal when the chance of death doubles, because it normally starts at a tiny percent, but CVD is one of the leading causes of death!
This compares >25% calories in added sugars to <10%. That's like 600 kcal of added sugar alone. A day.
600 kcal in sugars is 200g of sugar.
That's 5 full sized snickers bars or 4 cans of full sugar coke a day.
Who are these people!
