Disclosure: I built something similar called HODLings.

Fungible's architecture (local data, no vendor cloud) is the right answer for the crypto ecosystem too (arguably even more so).

Which is why I built HODLings: manual holdings entry (no exchange keys, no wallet-address pasting), live prices from CoinGecko, allocation and history charts, multi-fiat display. Same minimal- tracker shape Fungible has, but scoped to crypto.

Main failure mode is forgetting to export the backup before a browser wipe. Set a calendar reminder.

HODLings PWA is freely available at https://hodlings.app

Any word on the motivation of the attach? Any manifesto or a group taking responsibility?

I've been working on HODLings, a private crypto tracker, which doesn't track you!

https://www.geosystemsdev.com/products/hodlings/

In essence, it runs on your mobile device and stores all your data locally. It only connects to the freely available CoinGecko API (for latest prices) and GitHub (for reference and historical data). A background job updates GitHub ref data hourly. There's no login, no cloud, no ads, etc.

Very positive outlook...

It may or it may not - time will tell. However, atm, I think they're competing for attention and investments, which is why they make such bomb she'll claims

Yes, AI tools rarely push back and tend to agree with the human. So if the human is spitting racist/misogynistic/homophobic etc crap, they'll find in AI a friend to validate and encourage them ...

Why does it need to be a Chrome extension?
GeoSys

Yup - this advice has been around for 15 years, but ppl still do it. Checkstyle or a review agent can helpt catch it early on

Noice! Would be good if there was a mobile app too?

They want to push down you throat whatever their algo decides.

What sort of API do you use to search?

multi-region, I guess

Does it even touch disk? Is it limited by RAM?

Now they're playing victims, hey? They even had instructors helping the Russians at one point ... shameless
GeoSys

Well, what would the ramification for AI misleading you? You can send it to prison or fine it?

How about prohibiting them entirely ... as if they've plagiarized someone else's work (which they did)

What's the best privacy first alternative to Proton?

I think there're a few problems, unfortunately:

- It wouldn't quite work on mobile devices. Many ppl wouldn't like to download 4GB on their iPhone; - Many use cases involve real-time data - e.g. summary of the latest news and events. That would require the LLM to be updated often and be able to perform actions like Google searches; - Switching devices will lose the history, created artefacts, etc.

While I think there're use cases, IMHO, they would be mostly for tech experts and not the wider audience.

I'm sure they'll pass it on to the end consumers - there goes the inflation bit by bit on every front ...

That's pretty bad ... So many Fortune 500 companies using Node couldn't fork some spare change to keep themselves (and us) safe ...
