We're Gustin, a premium crowdsourced menswear brand. Looking to bring on another full stack rails engineer for a consistent 10 hours/week of feature development on our platform.
Design / UX / analytics experience a plus. We'd prefer to pay more for an experienced engineer who will do things right the first time.
I've been in the beta trial of this, and it works pretty well.
A few thoughts:
1) It would be really great if I could schedule when the pagesnaps were taken
2) It'd be nice to be able to take snaps of only one div
3) Would be very cool if there was a URL that always had the most recent snap
I launched a company once on April 1. Realized the date after we'd announced to everyone. We were worried about it impacting launch (is this a joke?), but all was good.
I don't think many people are worried about the 5% Kickstarter cut. Jon and Marshal were probably more interested in having users signed up with their service (which kickstarter wouldn't guarantee)
Continuously! We make men's clothing (jeans, shirts, etc.,) - the team always wears our own clothing to test and just do life in general. http://www.weargustin.com
You can put a cap on it by limiting the # of backers for any given reward level (this is what we did), but most of the big campaigns screw themselves by letting it overrun
Gustin is the first fully crowdsourced fashion company. We’re rapidly changing the fashion industry and we’re looking for a talented technologist to help us. We're also bootstrapped and profitable.
The Role
Our e-commerce platform is the primary medium through which we generate revenue. We’re looking for someone to own and improve our technology stack.
Qualifications (the following are required)
Experience developing applications using Ruby on Rails.
Experience with JavaScript, HTML5, XHTML, CSS. Familiarity with CoffeeScript, HAML, and SASS even better.
Experience with SQL databases. Familiarity with Postgres even better.
Desired (these aren’t required, but are nice to have)
Experience with Heroku.
Data-informed product development experience, e.g., analytics, A/B testing.
Value pair programming.
Active user of social media.
Understanding of static file optimization (offloading static assets to a third party, JS minification, etc).
Avid follower of the technology industry and current technology/web-related trends.
Prior experience working for a consumer Internet company.
Interest in fashion and American manufacturing.
Certainly having a social following / media connections pre-launch (either for the idea or personally) can help greatly, I believe that it can be completely overcome by hard work and a really good product.
Calling it a popularity contest trivializes the effort that many people put into their campaigns.
Source: I launched a Kickstarter campaign that did ~$500k on a $20k goal this year. No media connections, no social following pre-launch.
This was a very interesting article, given that I just experienced something similar.
Flight from SFO -> IAD last week. As soon as we took off, they asked for a doctor. He spent 2 hours treating the patient before they started drink service, and continued until we landed. We were all quite worried about the person, but found out at the end of the flight that they had overdosed on NyQuil. That made the whole ordeal fairly frustrating.
