Whereas Hacker News is just a bunch of people who don't know what they're doing pretending to be experts to influence the actual idiots. You can find charlatans pretty much anywhere money or people with money congregate.

Might be patent issues with this: https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20151007/11394132469/kicks...

I suppose I meant snappy and responsive relative to Eclipse. Early 2000's java development was dominated by eclipse and netbeans. I used Eclipse in college and the difference between Eclips & Intellij was night and day.

For me its because they do a really good job of keeping the UI snappy and responsive. This is pretty impressive considering:

1) Its a java app

2) Continuously running compilers/interpreters in the background

3) Running builds and tests can be bursty and its pretty good about not hanging when that happens.

It's a false dilemma to assert that only people who work excessively find purpose in work. Plenty of people at large companies enjoy and value their jobs. They just make reasonable delivery schedules and go home to their families at 5PM.

You'd probably be best served to just go through an investment bank. FX market is relationship driven unlike the stock market. You don't have any of the trading relationships with the huge players in the market, and probably never will. The cost in time and money to participate in these markets vastly outweighs the paltry sum the traders are making on your transaction. Solicit quotes from multiple counterparties, pay attention to the institutional rates, and make sure you aren't getting screwed too badly.
