> Also LOL to SourceTree. The git command line commands aren’t exactly rocket science.

This one caught me off guard. I know of no other free GUI for git that's as easy to use or install.

I'd love to hear more about Xwayland, a project the OP talks about. It sounds like a way to run X on wayland, or maybe the other way around. It sounds like a really nice way to bridge the gap while wayland is still working out some of its kinks and providing backwards compatibility for X apps.

If you're going to put up a wall up on your websites, make sure they load right away instead of loading the whole article before the paywall gets loaded.

I was able to read this entire article despite its pay wall by screenshotting the article before the pay wall came up. I had to reload the page, screenshot several times, and time it right but I was able to read the whole article.

... which might be what made it cheap enough to be snapped up by Facebook. Who knows, maybe the valuation of giphy would have been much larger 2 to 3 years ago.

Acquisitions often happen after some value is lost from the company being acquired, like when Microsoft bought Nokia or when Yahoo bought Tumblr.

As I recall, Apache Lucene, which powers elastic search, was written so its author could organize recipes as well. I guess some people just like to cook :)

The third question will give you a valuable map of influence in the organization. The more often names show up and the context in which they show up tends to provide a very different map of the organization than the one in the org chart.

This hits me hard. I always go into a company and ask to see its org chart so I can get a feel for where I'm at in the company. I have been frustrated before because some companies don't have org charts or they are inaccurate. I will be using this trick in the future.
