Looks like a bit of a shell game to me. Make whatever elaborate, obtuse system you want, at the end of the day:
1. BC needs on and off ramps with fiat, or it's DOA for general use.
2. Those ramps have to be organizations, not individuals, and they have to abide by KYC rules, or they'll get shut down.
3. No technological system is going to change #2. Make all the weird digital ID systems you want, at the end of the day you still need a CoinBase asking for 3 different IDs, a voice print and a vial of your blood before you're allowed to buy BC.
The real problem though is that BC is just a terrible product. If it was good enough, the ramp problem would solve itself because people would be breaking down the door to use it any way they could. But it isn't. It's awful. BC is:
1. Painfully slow
2. Agonizingly user-hostile
3. Completely pointless to 90% of the population.
I'd LOVE if BC actually worked well and was widely available. But that's because I'm a nerd. We all are. The vast majority of people don't spend their days thinking about how evil the Fed is or all the ways banks and Credit Card companies are screwing them. If they think about it at all, it's just a passing thought about "Man, I wish these fees/interest rates weren't so high." But there's not enough frustration there to drive a new product.
BC was an experiment, and experiments take time. But the experiment has been run now. The results are in. BC is a scam. A grift. An eternal revolving door where new suckers are lured on board with promises of riches and then drained of their money as the market is manipulated by a few whales for the millionth time. BC isn't capable of anything else. It's time to move on.
Wired headphones never went away. Wireless earbuds were mostly airpods and clones, which were always a victory of style over practicality or rationality, yet another example of douches with too much money burning that money on inferior products to look fancy (see also: Apple's entire business model). At BEST, you end up paying a higher price for something with ALMOST the same audio quality, slightly less wire-related hassle, and new, much worse NON-wire related hassle, like dropping one somewhere you can never retrieve it from.
Interestingly, "can you believe how terrible this fanfiction is?!" was kind of the per-cursor to "Can you believe how wacky this bot-written fiction is?!", and it shared the same frequent tendency to fabricate the supposed "unintentionally" bad writing specifically so it could be mocked. This was famously the case with "My Immortal," an insanely bad Harry Potter/Goth/Vampire/Hot Topic fanfic that was presented as authentic but was in reality an intentional send-up and exaggeration of all the worst trends in fanfic writing grouped into one place. I wouldn't be surprised if the same was true of Full Life Consequences.
Bingo. This is borderline clickbait. Just another instance of a giant corporation shitting on ordinary people. The real creators of DOOM are long gone, and wouldn't give a shit about something like this. Corporations, and lawyers, are as always a plague upon this earth.
"that usually it comes along with not being allowed to make extremely hateful or racist or sexist comments"
Unless that hatred, racism and sexism is targeted at white males. Then it's "punching up" (even though those doing it are usually far better off than those targeted) and is perfectly ok!
Both the left and the right reject "illegitimate humans." They just define legitimacy differently.
I was hopeful for a bit, then I saw some stuff like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JurplDfPi3U and realized nothing has changed. It's the same old shit: reporters being willfully ignorant, business people misleading the public, and on and on. Wake me up when you have plans for a full-scale, fully-functional fusion plant that can actually be built in an economically feasible way. Until then, I don't care.
I'm all for decrying leftist propaganda, but if you think driving a massive vehicle while a bunch of screaming kids get up to god-knowns-what behind you is "fun and entertaining" you probably need your head examined.
I don't appreciate being forced to pay for a feature I don't need. The modern car is FULL of such features, and it's caused the price to skyrocket. The median price for a new car in 1968, adjusted for inflation, was roughly $25,000. Pre-Covid, the median price was something like $36,000. All while wages stagnate or fall accounting for inflation. Stop driving up the price with all this stupid unnecessary crap!
"You will own nothing" etc etc. Welcome to dystopia. I'm so glad a bunch of brilliant minds spent a half century creating magical miracle technology so corporations and government could use it to fully enslave us. At this point maybe we were better off dying of polio in the 40s.
What on earth are you talking about? Seatbelts are FULLY OPTIONAL. Not LEGALLY, but functionally. If your seatbelt malfunctions somehow, you can still drive. If the "infrared cameras" that are constantly watching you and totally not sharing that data with anyone glitch out (and see our old friend the Kinect for how likely that is), you're fucked.
Goofy stuff. But then, so is the blind adoration and acceptance of everything the government says about the vaccine. We live in a time where 95% of the population is going to act based simply on their tribe. Almost no one is capable of any kind of fair, rational evaluation of the available data anymore. Why bother when there's money to be made, fame to be won, and, if nothing else, followers to impress on social media?
"Do your own research" is disingenuous. If I do my own research (and I have) and it disagrees with your beliefs, you'll still tell me I'm wrong.
Incidentally, people thinking for themselves and being able to look at studies and talk to (actual) experts directly without the interference of the media or "experts" is exactly why there are so many skeptics, and why the White House, the Media, and Big Tech are doing everything they can to censor the living shit out of vaccine discussion. You people spent years yammering about how great the free, uncensored discussion on the Internet would be: finally the strongest ideas would win out! And then when people didn't come flooding to YOUR ideas, but actually started to move AWAY from them, you screamed for it to all be shut down, post-haste. The game is only good when you win, huh?
By the same measure, I don't want to spend much time around people who:
1. Blindly accept what the government, the media, and "experts" tell them, despite all three repeatedly demonstrating they're not trustworthy.
2. Continually parrot false claims about the vaccine's efficacy, and dismiss any study, doctor, nurse or academic that disagrees with the Official Narrative as wonks or Russian Operatives (has that one fallen out of style yet?)
3. CUT PEOPLE OUT OF THE LABOR MARKET, out of jobs they need, in the middle of a LABOR SHORTAGE, because they refuse to take highly suspicious medication the government is forcing on them.
The whole vaccine situation handling by the government has been nothing short of tyrannical. If the government can force you to take an unknown injection whenever they like, on penalty of being cut off from society, do any of your other rights even matter? You're probably the type that constantly cried "Fascist!" during the Trump years, and yet you're cheering on an authoritarian take-over of the US, by both government and Big Tech.
People who agree with the mainstream, official line, government etc. don't need anti-censorship platforms. Your response to opening such a platform and seeing positions you hate should be "Excellent! It's working as it should!"
Despite all the talk IPFS is just voluntary content mirroring. If people feel you're spamming, they'll stop mirroring your shit. Which of course illustrates the worthlessness of the platform for "Anti-censorship" and "Free Speech."
I stopped believing in "decentralized free speech" platforms the moment they all decided to censor and attack anyone they politically disagreed with (ie Gab's treatment at the hands of Mastodon). None of the people running these projects actually understand what freedom of speech really is (the ability of THE PEOPLE YOU HATE to speak, a principle, not just a law). When these people drone on and one about "Free Speech" and "Anti-censorship," they really just mean "for people who agree with me," which is no free speech at all.
Beyond that, IPFS is a joke. It's hovered in toy status for years, devoid of the core features it needs to justify its existence (a way to motivate people to host besides the goodness of their hearts, a DNS replacement that's not laughable, a simple and stable interface etc). But even if IPFS was everything it claims to be, using it for something like this is laughable:
1. There is no security in IPFS. It's a content mirroring technology. If you're hosting something illegal, the authorities can find you just fine.
2. IPFS is entirely voluntary. Mirrors can opt out of mirroring things they don't want to host. What are people going to opt out of most? Controversial content. Oh yeah, you can host "controversial" content of the type a teenager things is controversial. But anything actually hot is going to get shit-canned before you can blink.
Overall, IPFS, and anything built on it, is either absurd over-engineering or absurd under-engineering. If you wanna mirror bland, non-hot stuff, just mirror it in the usual ways. You don't need all this cyber-punk larping cloak-and-dagger shit. Nobody cares. And if they DO care? IPFS ain't gonna save you.
Your ideology is flawed. Human beings are not divided into two camps, "Good" and "Bad." You do not slice the pie in two and and discard everyone in the "Bad" camp. If you do, and do so honestly, you will find in short order that you have discarded everyone who ever lived, or ever will.
Humans are complicated creatures with many flaws and nobilities. Because of Washington's actions in both the revolution and his presidency, a vast number of people enjoyed far more freedom than they would have otherwise. Also because of Washington's actions, some people had to endure a life a brutal slavery. Neither of these aspects is untrue, or erases the other from history by its existence. History, and humans, are often messy and uncomfortable. Stop trying to pretend otherwise. It is possible for Washington to be both a hero of freedom and a disappointing oppressor at the same time. This is the paradox of the human condition.
You're not enlightened. You haven't discovered some grand, hidden truth that all the world must know by pointing out that respected historical figures were flawed. We know. We've always known. We respect them anyway, because they did good as well as bad, and the good was a big deal.
