I'm considering starting my own new thread about this, but I can't even unsubscribe or use my account without doing a Persona ID check -- something I absolutely refuse to do but have no way to opt out of.

Hate to be that guy, but I'm not sure this is an HN worthy article to be honest. It's a listsicle that covers the title for a minority of its points.

Perhaps one could look at this recent Technology Connections video and its accompanying blog for a more insightful look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHP942Livy0

Alternatively, perhaps a direct link to the video from this article is in order?

Mao took over my summer camp like wildfire in 2005. Fellow councilors and I would often consolidate the rules between camp sessions and we kept running clearing out playing cards from the Kenora grocery store to play on our island. Fond memories. It's definitely one of those games that suites camp life, with the culture of play and hidden rules.

Exactly. Any discussion about US debt as a barrier to economic process when there are so many other avenues for the state to make revenue is either ignorant at best or disingenuous at worst.

Pilot here: even in my small Cessna I will backtrack do you know why? Because it gives me that money more options to work with in case something goes wrong with my take off.

Seconded!

And I say this as a man who thought I didn't need it because I can't get cervical cancer. But it turns out oropharyngeal cancer might be just as preventable with the HPV vaccine.

> My mother was from Utah, and she always lamented at the small size of her flowers growing up in Chicago. They are much larger in Utah because they can get big without insects eating them.

Counter-anecdote from a Utah local: every time we travel to a "wet" area (any travel but Arizona / Nevada) we always find the climate to be more verdant and flowery. Perhaps ecosystems are more multi-faceted in nature.

Counter-counter-anecdote: Our Roses love the weather here.

Nope, the bill as written prevents local municipalities from making that decision.

Very cool! I asked about something similar in 2010 on HN: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1396876

Funny to see how the comments haven't shifted (and have!) in the past 15 years.

Hi Tom!

I went to school with Tom. He's one of the first legit nerds I ever hung out with. Glad to see his business featured on HN!

I highly recommend onshape these days if you're ok with a web app that makes all your design open source (the pay for private space model has a steep cliff, but for my hobby purposes and open source enthusiasm it's great).

I've lately been dabbling with feature script and making model configurations (eg a model size or appearance variant) for some CNC work. Here's a CNC laser module I modelled with onshape: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/2d5e7a41d9b0da06350348dc/w...
