I echo the top comment - the politics here have gotten out of control.

Like it or not, Elon and his companies have changed the world for the better.

You are allowed to separate the human from the human's impact sometimes.

Generally speaking, classifying a house as "McMansion" feels like a form of gatekeeping. If the person who lives there enjoys it, who are we to judge?

I'm asking genuinely, how is this top of HN? The comments seem to indicate that HN overall doesn't find this article to be valuable at its face.

Seems to happen a lot with "ragequitting" posts. I feel like I could write "Microsoft Just Lost Me" and it could get to the top.

Lmao I'm no David Fowler fan (leftist blowhard), but he's one of the most talented and successful engineers at Microsoft. I don't think he needs to build a resume.

I don't have an opinion of Elon Musk. What would you say to those who think he's a value-add to the world, or are completely neutral about them (as I am)?

Do you really think your values are that pervasive, even here in HN (which tends towards an echo chamber)?

Ignoring the spotlight is detrimental.

As a person who does consulting work, the best thing I've found I can do is stay visible with my accomplishments.

I did a presentation earlier this year for a client where the CEO was in attendance. I did not know he was going to be there. They were blown away by my presentation.

You make your own luck.

What should anyone with an X account be ashamed of, exactly?

Thanks for all of the comments. I wasn't replying simply because I haven't seen them, but based on the comments I actually got: I feel like my words would be like yelling into a vacuum regardless of what I actually say.

Just to be clear, I'm not part of any "resistance". I don't know what that is. Sounds awfully tribalistic - something I go out of my way to avoid.

Hi, Trump voter here. I'm NOT fine with this.

I've always liked the slightly different ending: "I just want my wife to be happy." And she ends up in the shack. This one is a little different!

Coming from a .NET developer - why NOT F#?

* Network effect, or lack thereof. Very few people use it. * Its nature is contrary to the ecosystem. The CLR is fundamentally resistant to the paradigms that F# creates.

Wonderful little language - one of my favorites - and we owe a lot to it for the great features that C# has. But it just hasn't picked up the critical mass it needs.
