I use the Gemini web interface just as I would ChatGPT. They also have coding environment analogues of Claude-Code in Anti-gravity and Gemini-CLI.

When you sign up for the pro tier you also get 2TB of storage, Gemini for workspace and Nest Camera history.

If you're in the Google sphere it offers good value for money.

I know someone who has used this trick to get a pay rise whilst not looking for work.

You wait until your boss is in earshot, get someone to ring you and the walk quickly away from your desk saying "yes, yes I'm still interested... Just a sec".

It might make your boss actually consider the reality of replacing you.

The fuel costs alone would dwarf a data center build out.

Exactly, this is about attaching the AI hype bubble to all of his dealings before he offloads with an IPO (that still leaves him with 75% of the stock).

CRTs were so incredibly hard to manufacture it kind of blows my mind!

Also they were heavy, fragile and difficult to import. The components were usually shipped to the target countries and assembled there.

We must be around 10-15 generations in to LCD TVs at this point.

My son has "autism". He is 25 and needs constant supervision and care.

I feel that the word "autism" is now meaningless. I must know 50 of his cohorts and even though they're all "autistic" they can be quite different.

I also agree that his needs are underrepresented and drowned out by those mildly-affected who have the mental capacity to speak out for themselves.

They're also planning some overlap.

I can't get my head around it sometimes. I know most end up doing duties that a PIC-chip could do but the fact you can get a WiFi enabled microcontroller few a few bucks blows my mind.

The IO co-processing on the Pico is so powerful, I hope they expand on this.

Same for me, after a while you just want to do something the "managed" software doesn't support.

Now I just run Ubuntu/Samba and use KVM and docker for anything that doesn't need access to the underlying hardware.

A real coder. Heh guys we have a real coder here. He gets paid and everything!

Not a factor. I also know people that don't have a problem with the MBP keyboard, I also know many colleagues who are driven to distraction daily (myself included).

Dell XPS15 with Ubuntu has literally been my best developer environment ever.

Unfortunately my current gig is all MBP and I feel completely handicapped, even after many months - to the point I have resorted to a "proper" mechanical keyboard.

I've been fighting my MBP15 keyboard for so long. Eventually I put a USB PC keyboard on my desk with a matching keyboard map.

Abso-fucking-lute bliss! I think my productivity has gone up literally 80%
