We were travelling for business from EU. My feeling was that those of us who were travelling most frequently were pulled, but apart from slight inconvenience it ended OK. We started placing bets who will it be this time :) I always had paperwork ready, letter from business I was visiting, hotel booking, phone number to business rep who would confirm my credentials, but I was never asked to produce them. Though, I don't know about travelling with family, I am not much of a touristy guy..

I was travelling to the US a few times during previous administration and each time somebody from the team was taken into little dark room for questioning, I was not travelling to the US much before so I was of opinion the way how US border treats travellers was weird to say the least, at least compared to other countries I was travelling to. Sometimes it was worse depending on particular border agent. Interestingly I travelled recently during new administration and did not notice much of a change.

I do have a side project that I'm working on since May 2023. I do software, and two partners work on biz dev. We bootstrap in our own time so it's painfully hard to get any progress. Both on biz end and on tech end. We have 3 customers, and a few prospects, and the market we evaluated is big enough to sell to. With people who actually want to buy. But time does not want to stretch, and I don't have it in me anymore to work until 5am :) I'd probably get heart attack if I tried. I'm not tired of it, I'm tired of not being able to push it, it seems $ can buy you time to work on a thing, but we don't have it.

I was in similar situation, at the time I was based in London working for company doing industrial control (so not software company but company using and selling software), maybe your case is different but if I was advicing to younger me I would advice to convince your departament to le me deliver this during work time or not to bother. I don't know if you have a clause in your contract that everything produced during work time or on work laptop automaticaly belongs to your employer, but even if you don't- weight if you'll get through politics to get your thing actually sold and not trialled or evaluated and then not actually rolled or simply ignored.. Anyways, good luck! Please post when all is over, I'm very curious if this was only my workplace with weird dynamics or maybe me not navigating :)

I'm not young but I'm optimistic about the future :) when horses were replaced by cars, bunch of new industries was created. I wholeheartedly believe we will see this happen with code generation.

On a side note I like writing code, I think I'm not alone. Who knows, maye ol'good internet will be reborn?

I personally know somebody who posted in 'who wants to be hired' and was picked by good Samaritan here on HN. This changed my perspective, I was sceptical anybody on hiring side reads the 'who wants to be hired'. I started to read them after this happened (I'm not on hiring side but I share posts that catch eye)

It was already mentioned, have a look at coderpad.com. Though I am not using it for hiring- I know if because I'm long term fan of codingame.com which they bought. Codingame runs quaterly community events, that's where I used coderpad. I liked the IDE and report.

> error: package `icu_properties v1.5.1` cannot be built because it requires rustc 1.67 or newer, while the currently active rustc version is 1.63.0

is this not environment problem?
