Is there anyway to tell if the screen will be like a mirror? I've used a 1080p HP laptop that had the same issue. If I was coding with a dark background I'm staring at my face the whole time.
But essentially, if I'm mainly interested in performance and the screen it sounds like an XPS might be a better choice than a thinkpad?

That's pretty much the exact T470p config I was thinking of getting.
I will probably rarely use the keyboard/trackpad except when travelling (not often) as most days I plan to use an usb mechanical keyboard+mouse. So all I'm really bothered about is whether I get better value for money in terms of CPU and screen with the XPS compared with a thinkpad. Of course the XPS is prettier as well ;)
I've read the XPS screen is amazing whilst the thinkpad one is not so hot, do you have an opinion on this?
Is this for software development (assuming yes since we're on HN)?
I'm currently in the process of making this choice. Looking at Lenovo T470p/Dell XPS 13/15. If I'm doing linux development is it worth even thinking about the surface laptop?
Is this quote the difference between Google and Apple?
With Google, you are the product - you pay $ and have your data harvested and used for advertising.
With Apple, you are the customer - you pay $$$ for a locked down, secure (they try?) system, that doesn't sell your data.
I grew up as an Apple hater (no particular reason), but now that privacy is becoming more of a concern, it seems that the Apple ecosystem offers a better product? Am I being naive about Apple?

Sorry but this is wrong IMO. You've been reading sheet music your entire life, but you've only been reading tab for the past few years.
I've been reading tab for 10 years. I think in tab. There are a bunch of songs that I can't be bothered learning (sultans of swing, metallica songs+solos, oasis songs.. you get the idea) because I don't like them enough but are fun to play along with, and I do so with Guitar Pro playing the tab at full speed. It's basically like rocksmith/guitar hero but in "real life" mode.
Do you mean in the country the cash is sitting in?

Except in Paris there are so many cars in use, causing such a huge amount of pollution, that the government had to ban half the cars in Paris from driving on certain days last year.
Where can't you do this? It's possible to drive from London to Beijing if you really want to.
