If you have evidence of them causing interference on a spectrum they shouldn’t be on, report it to the FCC. They take that very seriously

He probably had it pointed at trees. It was super reliable for me when I worked from a rural location in Maine for a couple of months.

The denominator

You are in a dense population. A large chunk of the world (and many people even in the US) are in low density environments where fiber rollouts are too expensive.

It doesn’t. The network is governed by the FCC and any other regulatory agency where they place RF on the ground.

Get out of bed earlier then and go to bed earlier. You’re inventing a fake problem.

“This stupid thing we do that is worse for society than the perceived upsides is only twice a year. Why not keep doing it anyway?”

This just seems like a backwards justification. There is nothing wrong with a 9am sunrise or a 4:11am sunrise. People in Anchorage deal with both just fine.

> I am not awake at 4am, I have no use for sunlight at 4am

Most people aren’t awake at 5am either. Your use for the sun when there is an excess of it that goes well past your bedtime if you get up at 5am is irrelevant.

They destroyed their heavier truck reputation with this new Tundra unfortunately

Ebbs and flows with these companies. If you got used to driving in the 70s then the FORD meme was “Fix Or Repair Daily”.

Claiming the state “spent” money when it’s something like a tax incentive is completely disingenuous bullshit. This article does this in spades to come up with this huge billion dollar figure.

“We won’t collect additional property taxes on this new thing you’re building for 10 years” is not the same thing as spending money. If a business doesn’t start there instead you don’t get any money at all. So in both scenarios you get no tax revenue but without the business you hurt your own economy.

It’s not taxpayer money being sent away. It’s tax collection policy and if we claim tax exemptions are spending money, then the government is also spending billions on non-profits and low income households.

They are an extension of the US military. Their weapons do what the US decides. Anduril does not offer military services like blackwater or whatever.

That person said they donated 6 figures to a charity

You don’t know what wage theft is. It’s not something an employee does.

> donate 6-figures to charity, which while very commendable, flies in the face of the idea of being 'stuck'.

Have you considered that the harm of the loss of 6 figures can completely destroy local charities?

This quickly devolves into effective altruism and the problems that come with that but it’s very easy to end up in a situation where you think the net good you bring by keeping a local abused women shelter open far outweighs the negative consequences for working at Meta.

> Work at Anduril as long as it makes that bread, etc.

You don’t work at Anduril to make bread, at least not as a software engineer. It’s a long hours startup with worse pay than FAANG in high CoL areas. The people that work there fundamentally believe in “improving the defense of the west”.

It is the private sector equivalent of joining the military. If you want to bag on people in the military, go ahead. But they are not in the same category as people just doing things for convenient good money.

Hole punching works fine for IPv4 as well outside of endpoint dependent NAT, which most ISPs don’t use because it visibly shows up to normies as a bad connection in PlayStations/Xboxes.

Once you have to hole punch, you’ve lost the thread of why people bother switching to IPv6.

maybe there are other confounding factors that make smartphone utilization much less likely in Europe. Specifically no daily long commute in a car where people get bored and are tempted to use them.
