As a woman in a start up and indeed generally as a member of a start up, I find this recent uproar about Sheryl Sandberg quite frustrating.
I'll admit that I didn't watch the interview that she just did. However, I did see her speak this past year at the Grace Hopper Conference. Yes, she goes home at 5.30 to eat with her kids, but in this digital age it doesn't mean she is done with work. She just uses technology to timeshift and work when it best fits into her life. She goes home so she can be with her kids while they are awake but she's still responding to emails and does work after her kids are asleep. This is the beauty of digital age.
While I don't have kids, or a even significant other, I do, however, have a personal life that I refuse to sacrifice because I am in a start up. I'm sure many of you feel the same; this means I do work, I go out with my friends, come home and do more work. Maybe I wake up earlier then everyone else, work on weekends, etc. This is no different than what Sandberg does.

IE probably has huge numbers because it's prevalent in the corporate world. Most corporations use Microsoft and either discourage or prevent their employees from downloading other browsers.
If these people that are forced to use IE at work aren't tech savvy then they probably continue using IE at home.
Ya, this is definitely true. I can't attest to children being that beaten badly in India, but when I taught at an elementary school in the Himalayas beating the students was common place. The first day I walked into a classroom I was given a bamboo stick by the child in charge of the class.
First I tried not resorting to the stick, then I would scare the students with the stick (by swinging at them and missing or stopping just short or their body), but eventually they learned I wouldn't actually hit them.
The class would occasionally get so bad that the child in charge of the class would go around and hit his own classmates.
Unfortunately they responded to the abuse and would quiet down.
I think it's all the culture. It goes back to how the parents discipline the kids and how primary school teachers discipline the students.

I don't understand why this got down voted. You can't assume that users will have experience with the internet.
I work with a lot of people have little experience with technology and the internet and whose second language is English and they don't understand when they see "submit."
These people tried something like your idea.
If you're going to do something like what they did then in my opinion it isn't really feasible. For starters there are scalability issues. Also, if you're concerned about your privacy but want to message someone who doesn't have this app then you're forced to message them insecurely. I remember having some other reservations about this when I read it but it's been a few months and I've forgotten them.
