Surely the first step of this is a basic understanding of your right, no? Or are you suggesting this isn't worth talking about unless the author lays out a plan to undo decades of state privacy encroachment and our unending march towards a surveillance state?

> Go outside and it's more or less the same as it has always been.

I don't even think it's worth trying to unwrap this.

Things are fine, why are people so angry, says someone not struggling to survive, says someone who isn't in a group targeted by others, says someone who must feel relatively sure of their job (lol) and continued healthcare.

Not to even consider the dystopia that is many peoples struggles while others sit on the side and loudly, brazenly shout "this is fine"!

Count your blessings, at least, yeesh.

Yeah, okay. Lmk when there's telegram groups of people injecting 10x the human dose of masks and literally dying.

Gonna go with "wearing a mask to stop particulate spread" is not separate but equal from taking horse dewormer. (And it's not an exaggeration to characterize it as such when they're literally buying drugs from farm suplly stores and injecting amounts meant for livestock over the course of a few days.)

Similarly, I don't know anyone who has died from wearing a mask.

This is not even to mention the numerous other studies, experiments, and demsonstartsions of all sorts of respiratory protective gear that show effectiveness against particulates smaller even than COVID-19.

And googling the key line there reveals a full page of Google results with articles explaining how both the initial assumptions and methodology was flawed. It was surprising even to me how easy it was to find rebuttals.

At least, unlike the other person in this thread, you didn't do the gaslighty thing of acting like 'we all know' masks don't work.

If you want actual reproducable, actual portable software, Nix. Otherwise there are countless other OCI runtimes, cri-o, containers, etc. Kubernetes doesn't even use Docker.

What a thing, docker. I can't get over the staying power it has had despite... Everything.

Sure, let's explore that. What are Hasan's extremist views? And keep in mind that I'm gonna cite Aden, Sneako, Trainwrecks, Mizkif and more in response.

Let me be clear, those were bonuses that helped fill in gaps. I've been seeing through the muck since before gamergate had a name and I'm good at reading between the lines.

The real issue is someone acting like they're too anti-woke to encode morality rules into their ai... After listing morality rules.

It's abject hubris, "oh of course my morals are the universal standard".

The fact that they cast side-eye on other people expressing ideas about social norms, or acting like unregulated free speech is unlimitedly good, and the cluelessness about moral relativism/absolutism, well, like I said, it completes a picture.

I find it really amusing that everyone seems to just find it normal, okay, chill, that our banking infra is based on semi-blind confidence and people not expressing concerns or warnings, or you know taking their own money out of the bank.

Hour by hour I am in horror at the standard of "normal" that people will defend because they can't see it for what it is or imagine an alternative. Capital capital jobs jobs! Hoorah! This is the way.

You're implying that actors should've stared down the barrel of a loaded gun, hoped that everyone else on the line would hold, and not flinch.

Is this HN? Is this real life? These actors might collude and self-prote t each other often, but they're not a national army, theyre not some unified body. I feel like people just canNOT accept that a bunch of their peers are vultures and that by bumping elbows with them, they're complicit. But that's exactly the truth.

That might be true and I don't really care? It's _a bank_. My expectation is that I can pull my money whenever the hell I want.

If me taking my point out of my account causes you problems, that sounds like a you problem. I absolutely do not freaking get this.

SV pissed when Thiel's scummery affects them. So sad for them.

Funny enough, much as I detest the guy, I think the hate directed at him for this is pure cognitive dissonance and refusal to see the bigger picture+problem.

Why in the hell is this doenvoted? Every two months Edge grows some new feature to help me "shop" or some other bs.

There are literally 3x as many knobs to disable "yes, plz hijack my data" in Edge than Chrome.

Yes, and the fact that this person feels so clearly comfortable acting as if there's a single moral standard for all of humanity...

Let's just say, there's enough fundamentals missing that my pessimism about the folks pushing AI isn't yet pessimistic enough.

Ha, oh boy there was a dig at "woke" in there too, but the GP was smart enough to not use that word. Gimme a break, these folks that act like they understand the world and their opinion is some universally-true common denominator are seriously out of touch.

Edit:

> m a member of several protected classes and I grew up in "what doesn't hurt you makes you stronger".

My dad beat me and I came out good. You can't make this shit up. I have friends that killed themselves as queer teens. Guess they weren't strong enough.

This thread is hilarious. I'm very familiar with xattr, but as somehow who chooses not to use an proprietary OS, whose proponents whine about constantly here, I had absolutely no idea what this would be about until I read comments.

I thought maybe Ventura was a sandboxing platform or tool or something.

But no apparently I'm an asshole or idiot for not keeping up with annual releases of a niche os. Jokes on jokes.

And yet y'all keep on the platform as if there aren't alternative.

But somehow countless random hours here and there, countless time over years complaining about it, is all somehow worse than learning the basics of a distro that really just doesn't take that much work when all aspects are truly considered, devoid of the 20+ years of familiarity and stockholm syndrome.

You must not have normies in your life. I'm subjected to cell phone and laptop speakers constantly.
