Never had any problem with this whatsoever. Where are all the mass persecutions you people are so paranoid about? You really think the gov't cares you talk about weed with your friends on the phone? Get over yourself. They don't; they do the same shit on their days off and probably cheat on their wives too.
If fact, everything is constantly getting more and more permissive in society yet you're still terrified they "collect my data. OMG my privacy!!" Just be honest about what you really dislike: authority. Your parents never taught you to respect authority and now as a 20-25 year old after an undergraduate sociology class you think you're "oppressed" by the "man".
Essentially is a "legitimate" spam pipeline. How many times have you clicked on some weird looking url only to regret doing so? You'd be paying them for that regret.
Every spammer in history will be signing up and the amount of click-bait garbage will increase by orders of magnitude.
What? Have you ever had a job? You must be 12 or work at google. because everywhere i've been, tech depts are treated like redheaded lepers and designers and managers get all the glory.
Typical hippie non-sense from a programmer with an over-inflated ego. Every company is rife with them.
1. You do not have to prove yourself.
>> Um, yes, you do. Because you're getting paid to work and work well by people who are risking capital to have you there. You're not entitled to your job. If you feel you should be then move to France and make half the money for the safety of not being able to be fired, or join a sweepers union.
2. You are not a commodity.
>> Once again, yes, you are. You are paid to generate profit for the company. If you don't like that then you are free and encouraged to risk your own money on the business of your choosing. Create some jobs yourself.
8. Software engineering is full of lies and people who will try to take advantage of you.
>> This is just too easy. Author Jeff just has no real-life experience whatsoever, it seems.
9. You are not your credentials nor your past.
>> Then you should go ahead an hire some repeat offenders. Put your money where your mouth is and give a convicted murderer a chance and risk your own money to hire him. You won't.
I mean, this guy is the biggest bitch there is, really. He acts as if this is the first time a bag has been lost/stolen. Welcome to earth, first time travelling?
Instead of wearing the same clothes for five days, i don't know, how about going to buy some new clothes at some shop; you did just land in London, yeah? You do have a little spare cash to spend, right?
And the best part is that he blames American Airlines, London. American Airlines didn't steal your bag, genius, some scum-bag did, from where you departed. CALL THEM.
Someone who drives a custom made Pagani Zonda at a price point of well over $1 million shouldn't be talking about "The perils of mixing open source and money"
edit: So, let's translate this article, shall we?
"Hey guys, it seems to me that it's getting a lot easier to get funding and release quality software products these days. So i'd like to request you stop doing that, please. It's competition to my ba$ecamp and stuff and i'd rather not have to deal with that because my racecars need new tires soooo often, lol. So yea, just make free libraries and stuff don't make anything too good lol"
I'm living amongst a few Spaniards at the moment. And they are literally the laziest people I have ever met.
They DO, in fact, sleep whenever they get the chance. 12+ hours a day at least once a week.
They have a poisonous victimised mentality second only to the Greeks.
The economy they have is the economy they deserve; and this goes for all Mediterraneans.
If your enthusiasm about code is so dependent upon external things other than code, or about cute and cozy examples then this isn't for you. It sounds like a few people in this thread are forcing themselves to like programming and they don't know why.
