That's not because of its policies, it's just that Telegram is very popular in Eastern Europe/post-USSR land, network effects and such.

Wait for evangelists to come and say that it's simply out of their threat model for Signal, it's actually just no-Facebook Whatsapp with Mobilecoin, you're a 0.0001% privacy geek whose needs are totally irrelevant to 99% of the actual userbase whose requirements are stories and, surprisingly, usernames which are coming the next day, pinky promise! That's what always is being heard in response to unorthodox requests wrt Signal development, chinese users case shining there especially so. But yeah, some people gotta bring some bread to their tables and other to get memed into "use Signal, use TOR".

Hawala has kinda been out there for a long time, and I'm not sure that there is a space for incremental improvement since, as I already mentioned, its main security properties lie in hawala being out of modern fully electronic systems. This is the case when we are talking about the general mechanism, of course; a group of 2, 5, 10, N people | N < some abstract big number where we can't tailor solutions easily and need to scale, there some customization may surely be devised as an improvement.

This is the case where the worse UX is just a better security in disguise (note: "better", not "perfect"; see multiple US reports on trying to investigate the terrorist funding through hawala). No electronic transactions cuts a lot of SIGINT (though not all, people carry their phones with them, call each other, satellites make images, etc.) and sometimes HUMINT is more difficult in countries like Afghanistan or Pakistan.

Yeah, seen that too, very cool. It pleases me to be able to play stuff simply by visiting a website. Solves many Linux-related problems as well. I wish some community-made mods made it to CS 1.6 with sentries and lasers, that really ups the game.

https://github.com/FWGS/cs16-client (but this is closed source now, I don't know exactly how they use it, maybe there is some different fork of `cs16-client`)

These two are what their own references point to when you load the game.

Been quite surprised to find fully functional CS 1.6 in a browser, but that's it. Heard that the latency is worse compared to the game client, haven't checked that myself because I don't want to bother buying or pirating the original version. Main use case: playing at work when you can't install random binaries but can visit websites (this use case isn't mine but I've been asking players there and they responded in this way).
