I could argue that if you are, for any reason, creating a formal computer language which requires more than just a CFG to parse, something has gone wrong somewhere. CFGs are narrow in comparison with general grammars but that doesn't stop them from being (1) exceptionally powerful and (2) exceptionally well-understood.
