I know that it's different but at least from my perspective my passion has always been code and building things. What I really want to do is work on my own projects but I need to make money too. My job isn't particularly interesting or engaging but I am thankful that I get to write code everyday for a living and at least do things that somewhat contribute to my projects outside of work.
I don't know I just feel like the categorization is a bit unfair that doing something you love in a commercial setting will strip you of your creativity. I think to some extent work as whole through pure exhaustion does that but that's why I'm glad that I get the measly reward of doing something adjacent to what I enjoy. I'm sure I'd feel differently if tech salaries were lower but if they were identical would you really prefer writing enterprise software all day over doing commercial art?
If you and I sat next to each other. You with an online game in front of you and me with a few handles of vodka and we both started playing and drinking without stopping I would likely be dead before you reached Chinas mandated time limit. I thought it was obvious that the risks between these two things are very different.
Well I'm very interested to see how this plays out. Knowing what I know about kids it seems like China is making the mistake helicopter parents. Some of the already over achieving kids might respond well to this but frankly as ridiculous as it sounds this is how you end up building generations who resent their government.
Sorry but where is the harm reduction for everyone else's race? Doesn't seem like it's a priority since the people in powerful also enjoy those vices. It's a bit coincidental that the races with less power also have the vices that they need to be protected by. My family is Mexican and they love tequila. I can guarantee you that if it was banned they'd all drink less alcohol and would be much less of a burden on our healthcare system. Somehow I'm yet to see a suggested ban of flavored Smirnoffs because it's turning our white college students into alcoholics.

I think in the case of Reddit though that vocal minority could account for some non negligible amount of the content the site relies on. The site needs its power users or it has nothing to deliver to the casual user.
I guess it's just a matter of decency. You certainly don't need to abide by that but don't be surprised when others don't agree with or want to be around you.
Did you read the article by chance? The author wasn't "cancelled" on account of the misreporting. That was just what put a spotlight on him leading to cancelling him for unrelated actions.
I believe the response from a Fox news viewer would be "It's not news." It's an opinion segment and all major media networks have them as far as I'm aware.
Yeah I'm not talking about the world I currently live in. I'm talking about what I would like. I'm not going to buy a new iphone of course but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to under different circumstances. Obviously they don't have to care about that.
Right but if we follow this to it's logical end we're at the same place. In my mind any platform that can be used to promote sex work is going to have these issues. Does that mean we just push sex work back into the dangerous fringes of society?
I don't understand why you can't have the Apple controlled platform you want while I have the freedom to use the hardware I bought however I want. I really don't get why Apple won't let me opt out of this restrictive stuff you like so much on the phone I paid for.
