One of my favourite examples of type III fun: The Apollo 13 mission. It's just so ludicrous, and it embodies the "not fun in the moment and let's not do that again" sentiment.

I don't live in Ontario and don't have kids, so I don't have any personal experience. This section of Joël Lightbound speech stood out to me though. It is regarding the apparent quarantine measures in Quebec. I can't substantiate it, so maybe it is completely sensationalized.

>In Quebec in January 22, we've locked up kids aged 6 to 10 years old for up to ten days in windowless rooms. Kids who tested negative, who had no symptoms, who came in contact though, with someone who had the virus.

To play devil's advocate, and provide another (intentionally) biased framing:

Do people want to continue with restrictions that have pushed the opioid epidemic to a new high [1]. Pushed mental health in youth to 'completely unsustainable' levels [2]. Stolen normal development/socialization from children & young adults using restrictions that were not always clearly evidence based [3]. And, all this considering the current outlook of the virus is far more positive than it once was.

The Angus Reid poll phrased their question like this, for anyone interested:

>It's time to end restrictions and let people self-isolate if they're at risk.

Here's a birds eye view of the protest for anyone trying to compute convoy length based the parents figure.

A friend of mine recently died by suicide and I think the constant persuasion to socially isolate was a contributing factor. It made it near impossible to detect that something was wrong and to intervene. He messaged me the day before asking how I was & mentioned that mental health was on his mind. I didn't realize that he needed help urgently.

People suffering from depression don't seek help and I'm not going to force him meet face-to-face. We're making the responsible choice anyways, given our public health recommendations. He was of course in the lowest COVID risk demographic, and was vaccinated.

The subversion, strawmaning & lies-by-omission throughout MSM and from our politicians has been incredible. It's even worse that friends and family are parroting it. People are suffering because of the public health mandates. It's not just "Canadians are tired". I don't think this is being fairly acknowledged.

The Angus Reid Institute have some recent poll results related to this.

Agree vs Disagree: "It's time to end restrictions and let people self-isolate if they're at risk"

54% responded agree or strongly agree during the Jan 27-28 polling period. This is up from 40% during the Jan 7-12 period.

It's interesting to see where support for certain ideologies intersect. Suckless philosophy seems to be rooted in a disgust for "complex, error-prone and slow software", and they seem to have conservative tendencies towards new software tools/practices. Applying those ideas to multiculturalism could land you pretty near Nazism.

What's interesting is I was actually drawn to suckless several years ago, and used dwm for a while. At the time, my work had me maintaining a disturbingly bug-ridden codebase, and it gave me a visceral disgust for bad code. Suckless was really compelling. They seemed to hate all the things I hated, and promised a solution.

Eventually I changed jobs, grew out of it, and found more interesting solutions. Oh well, at least it wasn't a bout of National Socialism.
