Are there any opensource apps that I can connect to San Jose public library? I have some features in mind, like sending a notification asking me to read a certain page at certain time of the day. When I click the link, it should take me to the next open page. Surprisingly no such apps exist so far
Thanks. I have no promises to make beyond telling him he will develop relevant job skills. If he doesnt like it after a month or so, he can happily walk away without loosing any money.
Thanks. Thats an interesting perspective. How do distinguish between a guy volunteering vs me finding a guy willing to come and work with me? Is the latter what you call an internship while the former is volunteering?
Thanks for the perspective. Exactly like you said, tasks I assign are menial/entry level and make no monetary returns for me, but will be really helpful to the intern.
Thanks for replying and pointing out the framing. I am not going to set minimum hourly requirements but I also dont want him to work 3-4 hours a week and expect to see results. I said "making him work", because he will be ultimately working on my idea. But yes, the wording could be better. May be "collaborate " on my idea or some such thing
All good points. Why do you want to work here is just a dumb question for this purpose. It basically forces me to lie and say you guys sound awesome instead of just saying your company ticks the right boxes for me.
Have you ever asked your plumber or handyman why they want to work for you ? Same circumstances, there also you want someone passionate.
Yes, sometimes it's possible. Sometime ago, I had considered doing it because I could not think like a marketing person. So, I told a struggling startup founder that I will do grunt marketing for them, they just have to teach me the steps involved. Now, after learning , I concluded that for every problem,, by and large,, there is already an imperfect solution. It's easier to approach the solution maker to market their product and rather than build myself, one from scratch
If you want someone, you should atleast drop your contact details here, so that we can contact you.
Is there a site where I can practice relatively simple css challenges. For example for this html, center the text and align text in all three boxes, etc. Css battle is great but there are only finished answers not explanations.
Congrats on launching. But how is this different from frontendmentor?
I have some feedback. Given that other sites are giving exact same service, this is not of much use to me. However, what I need is step by step instructions on how to accomplish a given template. I do not need finished code. I need instructions on how to build each component, styling of each header, each "card", how to use bootstrap rows and make sure nothing over flow, make sure images are not clipped inside grid layout etc. There are individual tutorials for each part but it has become hard to find tuorials for entire project.
Some youtube videos come close but since they are made by experts, its never clear what can go wrong and how one should reason about it.
I guess I want annotated solutions and not finished solutions. I gave same feedback for other sites, but they agreed its needed but didnt do anything about it.
Thanks. This is great insight and one that is missing from most online discussions. I am really terrified of this situation because it will bring down my ROI. Also, I dont like to deal with contractors and related headaches. We will see how it pans out.
