Why were they placing the bets after the wheel started spinning? The article does not provide any explanation for this. If the wheel is biased why couldn’t Tosa bet in advance?

Here is a counterintuitive tip that is working for me. Instead of fighting my imagination which seems to then burst out in ADHD and distract me from what I am doing, I spend a lot more time actively encouraging it. I spend hours daydreaming. What I imagine then becomes reality. Neville Goddard is particularly insightful in this area.

Ironic that an article about lying itself is lying.

The Star Wars spoiler was so unnecessary.

Can someone provide a simple hello world example of a program in P? I searched the website. It provides definitions and ideas for many concepts. But not a single example.

There is some kind of a signal here. This message got you 373 upvotes in a few hours. Maybe you should do something with this.

What is the easiest way to install this on Mac? I didn’t see any installation steps on the website.

> Don’t let junior SWEs get 2000 lines into a change before submitting a pull request.

Why junior SWEs and not all SWEs?

Regarding the issue of "mav", it looks like the poster used screen capture followed by some image-to-text OCR routine (possibly tesseract). This feels like an OCR fail.

1/ I read slack and email once a day. Sometimes once every two days. Sometimes I miss slack messages. If it is urgent, people reach out to me.

2/ I only look at slack messages sent to me as direct messages. Also I scan mentions and threads where I have participated.

3/ At a meta-level I have learned that giving up the attachment to looking good is the biggest boost to looking good.

I have worked at startups as well as at Amazon. I would choose Amazon over most startups.

In my experience the biggest factor in job satisfaction is the manager. A good manager can create a great work environment even with stack ranking. A terrible manager can kill morale regardless of company policy.

I like Amazon culture. Managers are mostly experienced and well-trained.

Startups vary a lot. Could be amazing but also terrible. Some of my startup managers were comically bad. I suspect this was because they were inexperienced. It’s like the difference between parenting your first child versus parenting the third child.
