For multiple dimensions (and I would consider a table with N columns akin to a list of N-dimensional points), GGobi has a number of tools for showing the relation and co-relations. I know the names Ramana Rao and Stuart K. Card but hadn't seen that paper before, I'll have to look closer. Diane Cook (creator of xgobi and ggobi) also had a paper in IEEE Vis that same year.
