We have been using alpha-fold, and various other protein folding algorithms (ML based and otherwise) in our lab work. Unfortunately it is difficult to divine the details of how each works which leaves us apprehensive.
This blog has been incredibly helpful in understanding and appreciating what is happening "under the hood."
Thanks for all of the time that this must of taken - we all benefit.
wow, I'm not a bio person and had no idea AlphaFold was so complex compared to vanilla Transformers, etc. I wonder newer combinations of LLMs with RL for general reasoning are looking like, sad we might never know haha, but can dive into this in the interim :)
