TikTok isn’t the only non-US social media platform. Why wouldn’t it show up elsewhere?

The distills have this, too. When writing a story with Llama, sometimes including violence will get you a canned refusal paragraph claiming how China is a peaceful place and society.

An issue arises when popularity is manipulated through artificial boosting by an adversarial government.

At some point, it becomes State Propaganda masquerading as grassroots activists.

Control over content can influence and distort public discourse and understanding. This is also against the spirit of free expression envisioned in the constitution and instead injecting an intentionally divisive voice.

Is this argument not also applicable to us and our lives?

MacOS excels at noise cancellation. Typing on my Windows PC sounds like an earthquake, but you could actually hammer nails during a video call on a Mac and it wouldn't be picked up (it also blocks your voice from coming through, but that’s temporary)

The article is clear: This is hiding which posts you’ve liked from other users.

Not the like counts in posts.

It’s not free speech if the content distribution is purposefully weighted towards showing specific agendas

I thought the payback was the Chinese Boxers trying to kill all foreigners and Christians around 1900?

Not quite. There can be non-deterministic race conditions, and strange head size and sequence length requirements.

You could use Apple’s lockdown mode. It’s unmatched on Android.

Google and Samsung warn you about enabling root.

Samsung:

Is rooting your smartphone a security risk?

Rooting disables some of the built-in security features of the operating system, and those security features are part of what keeps the operating system safe and your data secure from exposure or corruption. Since today’s smartphones operate in an environment filled with threats from attackers, buggy or malicious applications, as well as occasional accidental missteps by trusted users, anything that reduces the internal controls in the Android operating system represents a higher risk.

Google:

Security risks with modified (rooted) Android versions Google provides device security protections to people around the world using the Android operating system. If you installed a modified (rooted) version of Android on your device, you lose some of the security protection provided by Google.

Important: If your account is enrolled in the Advanced Protection Program, don’t use that account on a device with a modified version of Android. Modified versions of Android can undermine Advanced Protection’s increased security features.
