There was an interesting write up in 2013 of someone who reverse engineered the game to develop a fix for the main flaws in the gameplay:

It's quite an interesting read and exposes some of the concerns that must have been present in designing games for incredibly limited memory at the time, including where to put the patched instructions.

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: provided that things never go wrong it works. But the assumption that things never go wrong is false. In particular the whole basis of the original point is that there is no true universal time, and this post (essentially) says "provided that there is universal time then I can't see what you are complaining about"

It's like Scala but without all the unknown performance wrappers and confusing code, and with a highly tuned runtime with a minimal library.
