gitea like everything else won't make everyone happy but for me it's a godsend, it's my personal git server for the last two years and I use it daily.

however if you have special requirement like a large team, or accessiblity(which I didn't check) you can try something else. The point here is that, it's much easier to use gitea than to use git+gitolite+nginx unless you want to spend more time with sysadmin instead of development itself.

SPA moves all the routing/templating to the browser side.

server side rendering does it all on the server and spits out html(legacy cgi style)

between these two: static html template downloaded from the server, then use ajax to update json in the html pages, which is the old boring way but it might still be the best middle ground?

Unless I need make a desktop complex GUI program where SPA could be a reasonable choice, I will just do the html/ajax old way, not fully geared towards to server or client side rendering, life is much easier.

wan't Samsung providing a GPL-version of exFAT for Linux already? what's the difference assuming this news means we will have a native exFAT driver in kernel "soon".

Is exFAT only good for file storage considering it has no journal ling? putting rootfs on it may have a dysfunction system relatively easily without fsck I assume.

i grew up in a village, bicycle is the only transportation tool, all kids can play free outdoors, the only danger is deep water, once a while one or two kids got drown somewhere in summer.

other than that, it's worry-free for parents, everyone knows everyone, there is no abduction, no gun violence, etc. it's just kids outside to enjoy and explore the true nature.

I consider the traffic, the cars on the street in particular, is the No.1 obstacles for kids playing outside in US. My kids' childhood freedom is taken away by cars in the neighborhood 95% of the time, the rest is still concerning, but not a big deal.

It's actually a quiet neighborhood but still, hit by a car on the street for young kids is too concerning, so we have kids at home most of the time, where they started killing time with TV, computer, social network, until their childhood is long gone.

Why the switch :)

Linux desktop has been my sole desktop for the last 15 years, it gets better and got the job done. I must admit that Ubuntu made a big difference.

On the other hand unless you're a PC game lover, the PC itself is more of a chromebook, i.e. nice hardware running a modern browser plus a few decent editors. The OS underneath is less irrelevant now.

Linux has space to improve though, for me it is the power management especially for laptops.

Very insightful, again Thanks for all the writing, I'm studying CORS now due to the info you shared :)

Thanks. that helps a lot, though I don't quite get "CORS allows client side apps to do just about anything traditional web apps have done, without page tranistions, given an appropriate backend", thought CORS is just a secure measure.

"If you’re serious about making an impact in the world, power down your smartphone, close your browser tabs, roll up your sleeves and get to work." -- without the tabs open I hardly can work anything these days, sigh. But yes I agree that social media attention decreases my long-time-focus-capability gradually and it is terrible.

This will only get worse over time, in Europe and in US, more so in Europe as Europe is frankly slowly Muslimized(by 2050 they may become majority). It's the new reality. Western culture is under serious attack and the system is not designed to cope with terrorism like this _at_all_.

Without security, talking about freedom is meaningless.
