SEEKING FREELANCER | Ann Arbor, MI, USA | ON-SITE/REMOTE from within Michigan
Theia Scientific, LLC is seeking an independent contractor for a short-term, limited scope (9 month) opportunity to assist in the design, development, and support of software for the company’s product feasibility research effort. Core responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with other developers, engineers, and scientists to create a web application to automate image analysis intensive workflows with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) models
- Designing and writing code
- Assisting in beta testing and site demonstration deployments
Skills & Requirements
Required
- Government authority to be employed, and work for, a U.S.-based company
- Lives in Michigan and can reasonably travel by ground transportation to Ann Arbor (Remote/WFH possible, but regular site visits to Ann Arbor are required)
- Six to nine months of availability with approximately 20 hours per week of capacity starting March 2021
- Experience with more than one computer programming language
- Working knowledge of AI/ML model development and deployment with PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
- Proficiency with modern (full stack) web application development, architectures, frameworks, libraries, and technologies
Desired
You have a demonstrated passion or hobby for at least two of the following: (i) tinkering with single board computers, like the Raspberry Pi, (ii) creating full-stack web applications, and/or (iii) developing and deploying Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) models for image analysis.
Bonus
- Experience with the following programming languages and their ecosystems: C/C++, CUDA, JavaScript, MATLAB, PHP, Python, and R
- Intimacy with client-side, frontend web frameworks to create feature rich, interactive user experiences (UX)
- Familiarity with Google Colab and Jupyter Notebooks
- Working knowledge of materials science principles including materials characterization
