Ha! It’s also going to be funny when he discovers going over India requires parallel diplomatic clearance by his embassy and if he misses the slot, bye bye record. Repeat problem for multiple countries along the route.

They tried a variant of this in Australia for a short period of time before realising IP blocking accidentally takes down thousands of legitimate businesses on shared hosting.

They didn’t repeal the law but instead worked out better ways of using the existing powers after a review.

This would be great for most projects as Swift for example is abandoned & 6+ years since last commit.

reading the source it looks like for some browsers that rate limit url updates, it has to use a different way that nukes your back button ability.

I read this as the customer was rude to the Usher (perhaps due to his station?), and the Usher was rude, but the owner basically told the employee he had to put up with the insult because the customer is entitled to because they paid, and may also bring future business. I think there's a line in the sand (which will vary person to person) where inappropriate unprovoked rude behaviour should not be tolerated by customers. That's all. My line is around unprovoked verbal abuse, where I'll give the customer a serve to protect the employee. Obviously if it's a common theme around a particular employee, perhaps they are the issue !!

This is great and remarkably similar to my personal philosophies on spending and work. For example avoiding unproductive debt, spending below means, vocation you enjoy, etc.

I do disagree with the bit about accepting rude customers. I will happily forfeit business of a rude customer. This is especially true if your employees are high value and you don’t want them subject to abuse (feel valued), and I hypothesise that in fact genuinely rude customers aren’t as listened to by friends as they think in their own mind.

I stopped reading when it said make the landing page focus on one thing. No no no. I HATE pages where it’s plastered with “Sign up” but you have to search for the login button.

The best thing I did was go from decent typing by knowing learned patterns (but having to look at the keyboard most of the time), to learning home key typing.

I did this in year 9 at school and my typing speed went down for about a month whilst re-learning.

The idea is you rest your fingers on asdf jkl; and to type a letter, raise the appropriate finger up or down.

Typing programs will teach you quickly by practicing the home keys then adding letters one by one like ‘e’ and ‘i’.

The biggest improvement comes because you don’t need to look at the keyboard. Your efficiency in overall computing tasks increases, then your typing speed rapidly overtakes your old style.

After a while you learn patterns of words so you aren’t always moving a finger off the home key and back like a robot. This is when you get really fast.

Always return to the home keys by feeling for the little bumps on the ‘f’ and ‘j’ keys.

I used to lay in bed at night practicing typing simple words with my brain. I’m sure this helped considerably.

It’s the best thing I ever self learned. Well worth the month of slower typing as my entire adult life typing has been a breeze.
