If I want to read general news there are plenty of feeds for that. I think some great articles covering non-tech topics deserve to be on the front page, but stuff like you posted does not seem that remarkable.
also note that this is a very US centric view, I'm living in Europe and I have not heard much about this trial, nor am I extremely interested day-to-day politics in the US.
Again plenty of great places to read and talk about north American politics, HN is more than that.
I feel like the field you are getting into (workspace productivity/office collab) us extremely competitive and there are many huge players. Most people don't use this stuff outside of work and there it is usually mandated by forces outside of our control.
That being said if you can stay alive long enough and listen to users it could work, I have tried it but looks neat.
In an ideal world this would be a great solution, but on earth I think this would invite a whole host of corruption, similar to the carbon offset trading. Not combating the problem but making everyone richer.
If we can ever get to the stage where I can just think and it gets saved as a text file, that would be more exciting to me than "metaverse" and quantum computing together.
I feel like this is the case for soo mamy loading bars.
Especially with games. Loading bar zips to 99% and then you wait for a few minutes. Yea right.
I guess it is really hard not to make it frustrating.
I think it's fair to call it milk. It's definitely not a beverage as a soda or beer would be.
It used to be "secretion from the mammary glands of certain farm animals" but you can rephrase it to
"liquid that is taken from a particular protein source — a coconut, a soy[bean], a cow, a goat..."
While I agree with many of the points I think it's hard to generalize like channel = bad. It does make sense to have topic based channels for more specialized topics and some for more generalized socialising. It is a fine line though and better less channels than too many.
As an avid cow milk drinker (consume it daily with oats/muesli) switching to plant milk was easy. Cow milk tastes richer and more flavourful though.
But I enjoy the wheat(?) and spelt(?) based milk also rice, coconut and soy.
For some reason the almond and cashew ones taste a bit weird to me.
It's been great to learn that cow milk can be substituted so easily, still get it sometimes for the taste though.
I would have loved to live in ancient Maya or Aztec times. Playing ōllamalitzli with the boys, cracking open some cocoa, in the evening watch a proper offering to the sun god. Maybe a bit more violent and shorter than modern life but definitely more exciting.
How do we not understand the nature of it?
It is a mathematically interesting problem, but the nature of Bitcoin et.al. just makes it useful for speculation and scamming people who think it would become a digital currency.
I have yet to meet someone who bought something real with crypto.
