I'd argue the conclusion is wrong. The premise, that places like CA are currently such tinderboxes as a direct result of preventing natural burning and continuing to develop in areas that need to burn to stay healthy, is extremely well supported.

This reflects poorly on the neighbors more than the union members, IMO.
It's not unusual to have sleep state issues on Linux, which is what it runs (an Arch derivative).
Could be some faulty hardware somewhere, but it's not a concerning enough issue to spend money replacing things for a machine that gets used for personal projects and video games.
Not OP, but the sleep and hibernate states on my desktop are pretty finicky and can't truly be trusted. I'd rather know everything shut down properly than risk it, especially since the thing boots in seconds anyway, and I have to input the encryption password anyway.
Sure, it's a work phone. And that job is with the US government, famously "of and for the people", meaning that citizens are owners of thar workplace. As an owner, I am not okay with this, and I will make my voice heard

Is this true now? I used Claude-backed Cline in March to make that migration, and it got SO much wrong, mainly due to the lack of solid documentation and example code for it, I imagine. Probably the project where I've had to fix the most AI mistakes so far (it was incapable of fixing the mistakes itself, it just kept getting it wrong in different ways).
The claim was that the AI use is rampant in youth right now. I countered that with (real) anecdotal evidence from those who have the best view into the problem. You have not refuted me in any way.
If anything, you're implying a completely independent outcome that AI goes the way of computers and becomes truly ubiquitous DESPITE being unpopular with kids right now. That would be supporting what I suggested.
I've actually been told by my teacher friends who used to complain about too much AI that their high school students are starting to reverse course here, and are now bullying each other for actual or perceived AI use. It's become cringe.
Defeatism doesn't do anything positive for the world. You're trying to convince the people pushing for a marginally better world that they should give up because it'll never happen. That is not a useful contribution.
This ties into my own theory about all this: for the first time in history, it's so socially okay to be child free.
At any other time, it was assumed that if you got to a certain age and didn't have, it was a problem. We've finally mostly gotten over that hurdle (at a high level, not necessarily within close-knit groups and families), and people act surprised that many of us never wanted them to begin with.

This is so false and unsupportable it's comical. The same goes the other way, if you claim they would use no value by only incorporating American data.
At the same time, the amount of disagreement an opinion gathers is an extremely important channel of information for determining whether you agree with someone's position. Silencing the disagreement with it gives an outsized benefit to harmful and malicious statements.
As others have said, there's even more at stake with a nonprofit. Charities famously milk their employees dry by emphasizing what good and important work they're doing, to justify overworking and underpaying them. If someone chooses to work for a nonprofit, that should not be interpreted as "willing to be a human doormat".
Being elected by a majority doesn't negate crimes committed, as much as a certain president would love everyone to believe that. Being elected shouldn't have anything to do with being punished, whether they won by 1% or by 99%
