>Cryptocurrency has a few people like that but also a ton of get-rich-quick types

There are literally hundreds of millions of people who're into cryptocurrencies...and you clearly don't have a clue what kind of people are into it and to what degree. I'd suggest not to make up statements like this if you want your opinion to be taken seriously. FYI bypassing capital controls with cryptos does not necessarily mean "breaking the law". Learn a thing or two if you're going to spout nonsense.

What are you asking for exactly? Projects that see use but don't have a cryptocurrency/token behind them? Metamask, Opensea, Ledger, Oncyber..

And store it in a local bank with the economy on the verge of collapse and the government being what it is? You have no idea wtf you're talking about sir.

"That sounds objectively much worse than what we have now."

I love the nft haters who think they're sounding smart but sound like absolute morons to anyone who's done at least a few hours of oBjEcTiVe research into the space. And normally I'd take the time to educate but with attitude like this and a made up mind, nah hfsp.

>I dont think anyone has ever yet explained how this is meant to function as a currency.

It's a store of value. Worked fucking great for people who were fleeing shitty places on earth but most people on this board wouldn't know a god damn thing about that.

>Most holders of coin-wealth didn't earn it..

You're an idiot. You don't know how investments work and how it has nothing to do with "earning it".

>I am still struggling to understand what immediate and painful need users have with trusting Apple, Facebook, Google etc with their identity.

Are you actually serious right now?

It's a growth/marketing tool for new games to leech specific types of people from other games. You can target a very specific demographic of people (say whales, or hardcore grinders) and reward only those people.

You're giving a visceral reaction right now. Being able to flex by buying a jpg for hundreds of thousands and having people on boards like this lose their minds over it is part of the appeal, you're feeding the beast without even realizing it.

1) It's technically easy to integrate due to being able to access any data without needing special API access. Permissionless open system.

2) There's a more collaborative environment with NFTs because project owners are more open to others giving utility to their NFTs as it drives value back to the project itself. It's not a sell something and end customer relationship model.

3) You can target any specific asset and give it any usecase you want - you don't literally need to map 1-1 every single asset.

>Yep, and then they recover them, which isn't possible with a lost private key.

He told you that there are smart wallets now (like with Argent) that allow you to retrieve access to your account just like you would with anything else. And it's possible to lose your password and not recover them unless you've set up the right recovery measures.

Why is absolute braindead comments like this still tolerated on here. I mean you'd hope that at some point the people who missed out on one of the biggest investment and technological opportunities of our time would just suck it up and either admit they were wrong or quietly move on with their lives but this place is just filled with angry cope comments like this that seek to vilify participants in a new space without even having a moderate understanding of what they're talking about. Maybe just maybe past all the evil scams and get rich quick schemes out there (which is present in any nascent industry), there are some things and people who are interested in this space and aspects of it that don't amount to eXpLoItaTioN.

And just to actually touch on this specific aspect of artists and being exploited, it's a laughable suggestion to mention this in this context when NFTs are one of the first times in recent history when artists can actually take back control from being exploited and unable to provide for themselves without succumbing to essentially giving up their soul - to unlocking their creative freedom and earning potential like we've never seen before.

"For instance, BTC still hasn't recovered from the latest crash a few months ago" it made new ATHs this week. I mean what do you people want, that it always stays at ATH every single ticking second? Zoom the f out ffs.

Everybody buys BTC at the price they deserve. If you wanna wait 10 years for it to get 'safe' and 'adopted' then you pay for the people who have taken the risk and contributed to its survival and growth.
