Actually this suggested law is problematic for all citizens of Israel. This law is very broad and can be used to force companies to remove content without restrictions. I really hope that this disgusting law doesn't pass.
These stupid limitation by Apple makes me really hope that there will be real competition in the tablet space. Android tablets basically failed because most apps are just bit phone apps. Windows tablet aren’t that successful either.
The thing is iPads offer good experience as a tablet but when you want from it a bit more Apple doesn’t allow it because of their Apps Store policies.
Personally I think iPad could be a great device for coding on the go.
But the fact that we can’t install anything outside of apple’s control blocks this option.
RDP or SSH is nice but it relies on internet connection. I’d like to use the native power of the device. With M1 there’s no reason it wouldn’t be able to do so.
Their arguments about security to sounds more like bunch of excuses.
I think this is just an excuse to keep users locked to the App Store.
Yeah, it could be more secure to some extent but Apple’s walled garden isn’t unbreachable. There were cases that scum and fraud entered the stores.
I’d say that Apple’s approach makes the users more ignorant of security issues. Because they assume that their device 100% which isn’t possible.
I don’t understand why they are limiting the advanced users so much ?
If I bought iPad Pro that means I am an advanced enough user to know what kind of apps I need and I can avoid problematic apps. The iPad Pro has Mac level CPU - M1 Chip. Why shouldn’t users be able to leverage it fully ?
Programming isn’t really possible on a iPad just because of this BS
Also, a lot of the features iOS got are inspired by the jailbreak community. And even on macs there are apps that really offer big improvements to usability like bettersnap or bettertouchtool.
The thing is iPad with the M1 cheap is really blurring the lines between Mac and iPad. The only thing that limits the iPad are Apple’s limitations.
Their argument doesn’t make sense when we are considering that they offer Pro versions for the iPad and iPhone. If people getting the professional version of the device they assume that these users are advanced enough to install what they see fit.
I don’t agree with the argument itself that it’s necessarily protects more. Because there were already cases where Apple put apps on the App Store with malware. And there was malware for iOS that bypass the installation process like the famous jailbreak via safari. It’s just makes users wonder even less aware to security issues.
Also I don’t remember every getting any issues with malware on MacOS ever.
