There might be value in a discussion that asks for disclosure. I’m not sure this discussion is working as intended though, judging the amounts of disclosures in the comments. Just an observation.
You’re not the only one. But there are a lot of people whose life situation might dictate that choosing a safe FAANG job beats the risk of working for a startup or striking out on their own.
Or maybe they just want to work on interesting things, have a good work life balance, and get paid really well.

Copyright issues aside, you would think claims of innovation would be taken with a grain of salt until this engine competes with, and beats Stockfish and Leela at the TCEC (top computer engine championship).
Ive found that there are days when I can’t do more than 2 hours without struggling, and some days where 10 hours go by without too much effort. Like you, I probably average 4 hours a day, but I don’t want to artificially limit it if I’m in a groove.
At my old team - in a fairly well known non-Faang software company - we planned sprints assuming 4 productive hours a day, so the 4 hour figure is probably not too extraordinary.
Not sure what you mean by volcanic magma half life but keep in mind the time dilation effect are minuscule, amounting to 2.5 years out of the 4.5 billion years of the earths age.
There could be other reasons for disliking it other than not understanding what’s going on. Maybe other people are working on tight deadlines and don’t have the time or mental energy trying to understand an entirely unfamiliar programming paradigm.
I would want to program in functional too, but I would seek out projects or teams that already use functional. I’d never introduce a functional language to an already established team or project, unless of course, I was the CTO and there were clear benefits.
