I'M SO SICK OF BEING HACKED & MONEY STOLEN FROM ME AND THEN EXERTING A TON OF EFFORT (WEEKS) TO GET IT BACK. Something drastic needs to be done. It's been two times in the last five years and that's too many times for me!!!
Recently, a phantom Uber account of mine was hacked; phantom because I signed up years ago and must have connected my PayPal account & never used it. Needless to say, I was shocked that some worthless piece of shit/thief hacked into my Uber account and supposedly took a $800 ride in London on my bank(im in NYC).
What's even worse is Uber doesn't give one rats ass about it's customers/users (try to delete your Uber account yourself.. try to deactivate your Uber payment method - HA good luck). This hack has been going on for many months and those smug, greedy pigs at Uber haven't done a damn thing besides blame it's users/customers for choosing similar usernames/passwords used on other sites. Check out all the poor souls being hacked per this twitter search https://twitter.com/search?q=%40uber_support%20london&src=ty....
Hackers unite, let's please come up with better tools to secure ourselves from all this stress and insanity!!!
Personally, I don't care too much about company culture in regards to the rat race of working in office(work remotely for a large company). I would take the money and find another gig; preferably a remote job.
On a different note more employers need to offer remote working options. You wake up, rollover and start working without needing to shower right away, drive/get stuck in traffic, pay a lot for gas ... remote working if more and more allow it/offer it is a solution to the traffic on our highways. Yet there goes many construction jobs ... an example of the Internet killing tons of jobs in that field.
Well im off track, but feel passionate about working remotely, not needing to are about office culture/politics and the huge benefits to society if more companies allowed/forced remote working.
I agree with you there ... Bernie Madoff is thug numero uno! As well as all those mafiaso ... either the rioters to Madoff to Al Capone all are thugs! THe definition of thug per Merriam is "A violent criminal."
There is right and wrong. It's your choice how you want to behave .... lawfully or unlawfully. Unlawfully you need to face the consequences and oh no you get label as a thug. What should they be called.. they chose wrong over right. They can choose to change and turn their lives around! Contribute to society positively.
There's good and evil and always will be. I don't understand why people want to spin those doing bad as it's not there fault and not label them the bad guy. Seems like those downvoting me want to coddle those who choose wrong over right. Love to understand why I am being downvoted.. for not wanting to take the side of the criminals???
Crazy world we live in ... where we are taking the sides of those who act unlawfully and criminally?
Huh? What do you call someone who disrespects the law that the majority follows(any skin color)? Poor babies they've had it rough they know fighting a cop/resisting arrest/stealing, etc is wrong .. it's ok they are just hopelessly disillusioned?
There is right and wrong in life. It is your choice to follow the law or completely disrespect/ignore it. Unfortunately, some residents of the ghetto choose to spit on the laws everyone else (asian, black, white, mulatto, etc) respects. No such issues are happening outside the ghetto.
What is the underlying issue that these violent/destructive riots are breaking out?
Again, I'm just looking at the videos and the evidence. As noted WTF .. why did that cop shoot that suspect in South Carolina in the back as the suspect fled. Horrible .. video shows that .. cop needs to learn his lesson/let justice prevail. The other instances the video evidence shows a different story .. a kid going into a convenience store stealing something and then roughing up the store clerk. Ten minutes later he's shot by the cop who apprehended him for his unlawful behavior. So that cop wanted to shoot him .. wanted to meet Michael Brown and shoot him because of his skin color or was there a fight between them and who do you think started the fight? I learned you respect the police and no trouble will be come to you, as little trouble has come to me with any police minus tons of speeding tickets.
Further why aren't these rioters acting in a civil manner to get their point across vs. destroying our city? Maybe because they were not taught or had parents that gave a damn. That's the issue... growing up in the ghetto without a strong family unit, as well growing up in area that is surrounded by crime. Such unfortunately just perpetuates the cycle.
It's a huge social issue and Im interested in hearing how you think it can be fixed. I'm all for a solution!
Also, don't put words in my mouth .. I said this is a class war... not a race war. I"m mulatto and grew up in the suburbs!!!
Im here in Baltimore and the guy who the cops supposedly roughed up so bad that he died had a rap sheet crazy long. He was a thug. Basically, all the thugs in Baltimore were the rioters.. the ones really lost at the birth lottery. But, you can get out of the ghetto .. though it I am sure it is not easy. It's all you know .. are surrounded by, but people do get out of the ghetto.
Same thing with the kid in Ferguson who was shot by a police officer. He was a thug ... ten minutes before he was shot you see him on cam roughing up a store clerk who tried to stop him from stealing. Do you think ten minutes later he wasn't acting the same way towards Johnny Law and worse?
Now that cop who shot a suspect in the back in South Carolina .. while running away from him is messed up. It's clear he wasnt a threat to the cop. Cop is at fault there.
Overall I don't see this as black and white, rather a class war .. where the lower class are fed up living in the ghetto. Though what can be done ... as won't in a capitalistic society there will always be a poor people?
I'm all up for hearing solutions to this huge social issue .. I miss going into Baltimore City. It's a nice city for all walks of life/classes and we usually live in harmony.
+1 for http://www.kaleidoscopeapp.com and their other similar designed pages/apps. Beautiful, artistic and original vs. the same old same bootstrap seen that 100 times type of design that is flooding this thread & the web.
For me and others close to me anti-depressants proved to be a joke/a placebo.
I was on five to six different drugs to cure an odd social anxiety, that went away as I got older and grew more comfortable in my skin. How in the world can a drug cure an odd internal social behavior that leads one to feel anxious/uncomfortable? Answer for me is .. it can't.
Another example being my g/f. We started dating six years ago and up until a year ago she had been on 4 different anti-depressants each year. Her doctors would say oh that one isn't working lets try this one and so on. Finally she realized this stuff isn't helpful, what's the point?
For those it has helped that's good to hear, but for me, my g/f and many others I know... these drugs are just lining the pockets of the drug companies.
This is nice to see and is a step to breaking down the ivy league snob high school mentality that Ive experienced with some VCs.
Case in point a VC whose east coast venture recently imploded was speaking at a conference. After the conference ended entrepreneurs started to approach and pitch him. He acted like he was king crap and he didn't to be bothered by entrepreneurs, but umm that's what he signed on for. He even later made a rude remark on Twitter about an entrepreneur he just met(didn't name names).
VCs like him... please get over yourself, be humble/nice and don't be D*&K! Because one day like the VC I noted above, your on cloud 9 and the next you look like a fool/complete failure in front of the community!
I'm in slightly similar situation in terms of speaking out against a huge firm in the Valley. This firm found out about my east coast start-up and invited us to demo our novel technology. They made promises of buying it for lots of money. Well we flew out there and it was a nightmare, as we were treated like dogs and or worse.
There is a ton of bad behavior going on in this industry and I have pondered whether or not to write about our experience as a warning to all other start-uppers/innovators. I've been going back and forth on whether or not to come out and say who the company is and those who scammed us out of our technology. Though will doing such make me look bad, when the narrative is Silicon Valley companies are no friend to the little guys with no connections!?!
In 2006 I recall seeing reports of the NSA's activities. Back then it didn't go into all the details that he later divulged.
Further, all those small details are now being exploited against the US by bad actors. I know this via someone who works in cyber security for the Govt.
Obviously I hold the unpopular opinion here, as most dudes 18 to 40 in tech circles exalt him as a hero.
Pardon I witnessed the World Trade Center fall right in front of my eyes. I don't want to witness that again ... let me know your watching my every move and I'm fine with it! I don't want to witness the same type of tragedy again and I have nothing to hide. I am a law abiding citizen.
He divulged sensitive U.S. documents and information that now bad actors use to exploit/harm the US. Further, he knew what he was doing was against the law and ran as far away as he could to avoid facing the consequences(Bradley, now Chelsea Manning as far as I know didnt run like a coward). Now he's a pawn between Russia and US relations.
The information he divulged that we are being watched by our govt. was nothing knew. It was information publicly known back in 2006.
This is cool to see(congrats to them), as I too have had interactions with the founders when they first started. Just looking at a few emails we exchanged and thinking why I haven't I reached the same level of success when I've had a ton of great serendipitous moments/opportunities to seize.
It all boils down to pretty much being a solo founder. I always hired or found code monkeys to help turn my front end coded designs/ideas into a working product. None of these coders cared the same 500% percent I do for my start-ups. I.E. In December a Fortune 500 company wanted to become our client and I wanted to make this happen. I wasn't sure if I should make this company sign a licensing agreement or not. An advisers said they should, though I wasn't sure and wish I had a co-founder who cared as much as I do to discuss this decision with. It was a turning point for my start-up and the deal ultimately fell through (crushing).
Having a team/co-founders that are vested the same 500% is utmost important. Especially, if your not a schmoozer with tons of charisma and or a unicorn with great luck!
