> The contact tracing protocol for Covid was anything but more surveillance.
Wow, just wow. I am stunned to find such an ignorant comment on Hacker News. Maybe someone this naive could exist in the general population, but on a board with tech folks ... how can anyone be this blind?
This is painfully stupid. Apple having literal backdoors on everyone's lives is the same as social media cookies? You must be an Apple apologist or stock holder.
Complete horseshit propaganda from the biggest pro-globalist newspaper.
> For most of us, a bank account isn’t about profit or loss, it’s about security: it prevents your life savings from being erased by a house fire, burglary or infestation of rodents
Guys, there's totally not a fiat currency collapse incoming. It's RODENTS eating CASH you have to worry about. Keep calm and trust the banks until the bitter end. How does anyone read this bs with a straight face?
The fact the person responsible for the TSA also had a massive profit stake in body scanners says everything one needs to know about airport "security".
Because prepaid plans are not tied to IDs, so validating identity to "unlock" your prepaid account proves difficult.
> These are abysmal security practices.
As a T-Mobile prepaid customer, I agree. I have emailed their CEO and actually got a response back when I shared my feedback. They were helpful, but that was after I threatened a lawsuit, so YMMV.
This. We've known Apple is backdoored since at least 2013 with Snowden revelations. Why are people still debating this nearly a decade later? Apple products ARE NOT PRIVATE.
Right now? We've known Apple is backdoored since at least 2013 with Snowden revelations. Some of us chose to pay attention, others seemingly went back to sleep ...
This statement is everything wrong with how Apple's privacy is interpreted. The problem isn't iCloud Photo - it's that Apple can install ANY software they want at ANY time for ANY reason on ANY of their devices without your permission, consent or even notice.
Took a look. Unclear why this is in any way superior to Debian and customized XFCE. Nothing is said about my security and privacy using the OS. Hard pass.
If you can prove harm, take it to court. In all honesty, I think you'd be making a mockery of yourself trying though. Google is a corrupt technology gone horribly awry and it should be obvious to all soon that there's no remedy nor anyone who even gives a shit about the problems its materialized. Like, what actual resolution do you realistically expect from this?
Exactly right, from what you know, which is limited to the point of useless on a proprietary, closed source system. It's almost guaranteed to be backdoored being as such.
