Isn't asking Google to not discontinue a product a bit like asking the tide to not rise?

I think you'd at least have to have the fallback DNS set to your local DNS resolver in order to get the server.internal resolved to a A record.

I use a registered domain with DNS validation and then CNAMEs that I resolve locally. Basically:

  1. Register a domain ("server.com") and put it on some public DNS that can do DNS validation with acme.sh.
  2. Use DNS validation to get a certificate on your domain from Let's Encrypt. You can just grab a wildcard one ("*.server.com").
  3. CNAME all of your services on a public DNS to an internal address ("email.server.com" → "server.internal", "plex.server.com" → "server.internal").
  4. Resolve your internal address on a local DNS server with an A record ("server.internal" → 192.168.0.123). This can often just be done on your router.
Since you use DNS validation, you just API keys for your public DNS service that acme.sh can use. No need to have any VPN network interfaces for getting your certificate. Your wildcard certificate also doesn't leak any details about your services.

I'm also planning a new home server build now and the prices are definitely relatively ass. So far I've spent 820€ on two 22 TB WD Elements HDDs, 375€ on 2x16 GB DDR5 kit, and 520€ on two 2 TB M.2 SSDs (cache). About 1700€ and I still have no server to show for it. Doesn't help that I've been procrastinating on picking the CPU and motherboard.

Did our demand for social media apps suddenly blow up? Because our DC demand seems to be blowing up.
Hamuko

Yeah, the only point where DCs employ a lot of people are during the construction period. Maybe good if you have a ton of excess electricity and you need to prop up your local construction industry for the next five years.

>The person that does all of their computing on their phone doesn't care.

Budget phones are a category are getting fucked, and there's a pretty good chance the next iPhone is gonna cost even more than it does now.

This is why I will not be buying a PlayStation 6. I've had my Steam account for 20 years (21 come October) and I can still download every single thing I've ever bought there. Why should I invest in buying PS6 games when they're gonna be made obsolete by Sony?

I don't hate virtual decorations in apartment sales images, since it helps with trying to get a scale of the room, but the AI ones these days just make it completely impossible to trust. I've seen plenty where I have a hard time believing it could actually fit the furniture in the picture. Obviously a real estate agent should check that the images have realistic proportions, but there's no signal that I could trust them. It just says "decorated with AI" or something.

More competition will drive down the market price, so it'll be 10% below a price that is lower than what we have currently. Obviously it's not gonna go down immediately, but more supply will definitely bring down prices.

Obviously, this is very bad for the existing memory makers, since these boom prices will not last forever, and the Chinese aren't gonna stop selling memory once they are in the market.

It's all a bunch of weights isn't it? Why wouldn't fiddling with some parts of the weights have cascading effects?

I have very little confidence in the current US administration trying to protect the economy. If anything they'd just try to cash out.

I don't understand this argument. How does it make the subscription any less subsidised if the losses are only because developing the product is just so darn expensive?

Feels like arguing that it's not clear if Bugatti's losses came from selling the Veyron instead of designing and developing the Veyron.

Tried it on my M4 iPad Pro and was surprised that it works - to a degree. NPCs (Gman and the citizens on the train) seem to be missing eyes and have no mouth animations. FPS was pretty poor too, and it was ass to use the camera on the trackpad.

Don’t worry, you also can’t afford RAM to play it either. Not that it needs much.

$300 isn’t what AirPods cost though. You can get a pair of AirPods 4 for $129 on Apple.com, and I presume that is still the most popular model. If you’re paying ~$300, you are buying premium headphones.
