Yes, you can listen online without signing up.
It is similar to Twitch etc, but has features catering to audio streaming that you wont find on other platforms.
The goal is to make it easier for users to perform a site-wide "find".
You can easily disable it by using the checkbox on the bottom right of the overlay that appears; then cmd+f will behave similar to your browser's setup.

Um... no. It would be great if you would come back to this article in 2 years time and run the same analysis on the same companies. I suspect the statement above will be rather invalid.
In the UK, the recruitment agents run the IT tech recruitment industry. Very rarely do companies take on the process themselves (I mean proportionately it's quite low).
I think $10 a month is fine. Those who value this service wont change their mind because of a few bucks.
Remember - people who will use this service will probably do it for business, they wont be teenagers, and a $10 will be nothing if the service provides any type of value at all.
I guess the part Im really keen to setup is the S3 + Hive/EMR part. But it sounds like it will be a bit too expensive to have up-to-date stats, and better to just do batch processing to run reports.
This sounds reallly interesting, but it feels very painful for reporting. Trying to run reports on this type of data for a dashboard seems out of the question.
I understand adhoc research is done via command line, but if you wanted to have a dashboard which shows stats, how would you handle that? I assume you would have to import into a db of some sort to run queries regularly?

The answer finally came to me from trial and error of something else. This is caused by caffeine - usually from coffee. Engineers dring lots of coffee, so often suffer from this. It is a type of "jittering".
These are not "another job" candidates. These are A grade candidates who are not desparate enough to take any lame offer they get (unlike recent grads with little experience).
When someone in the valley says "there is a shortage of talent", what they really mean is... there is a shortage of "talent willing to work for a pathetic salary".
It allows access to the microphone without tech support issues (adjust microphone volume, give browser permissions etc).
Beyond that, listening also allows you to just call into a phone number and listen to a show - without expending your mobile data allowance.
