That's not what discretionary means in this context. The funds having been originally earmarked at the discretion of the originator, means they are no longer available for any purpose at the discretion of the trustee, meaning they are no longer discretionary. You are confusing the funds having once been earmarked at someone's discretion for their being discretionary, which they haven't been since the point when they were earmarked at the originator's discretion.

Wow, you weren't kidding about the relative density between those areas. I'd consider Oak Park dense compared to most suburbs, just not as dense as some neighborhoods in Chicago. I'm most familiar with the north side neighborhoods and had those kind of lots in mind, with their near non-existent front yards, with front steps right off the sidewalk, and virtually no front driveways.

>That street is basically identical to most of the city of Chicago. The only difference is fewer 2-flats.

The front yard space and number of driveways in the Oak Park link also stuck out to me.

>unlike what's suggested (if not quite stated) in the film Lawrence of Arabia

The scene from the movie is based on this passage from chapter 20 of Seven Pillars, which suggests that while he was familiar with Arab clothing before the war, there was a period of time when he was in British army uniform during the Arab conflict, until he was asked by Feisal to change into Arab clothes:

"Suddenly Feisal asked me if I would wear Arab clothes like his own while in the camp. I should find it better for my own part, since it was a comfortable dress in which to live Arab-fashion as we must do. Besides, the tribesmen would then understand how to take me. The only wearers of khaki in their experience had been Turkish officers, before whom they took up an instinctive defence. If I wore Meccan clothes, they would behave to me as though I were really one of the leaders; and I might slip in and out of Feisal’s tent without making a sensation which he had to explain away each time to strangers. I agreed at once, very gladly; for army uniform was abominable when camel-riding or when sitting about on the ground; and the Arab things, which I had learned to manage before the war, were cleaner and more decent in the desert."

Also, the below quote is from the introduction, which I might add is perhaps the most beautiful introduction I've ever read. I sometimes go back just to read it:

"In my case, the effort for these years to live in the dress of Arabs, and to imitate their mental foundation, quitted me of my English self, and let me look at the West and its conventions with new eyes: they destroyed it all for me, At the same time I could not sincerely take on the Arab skin: it was an affectation only. Easily was a man made an infidel, but hardly might he be converted to another faith. I had dropped one form and not taken on the other, and was become like Mohammed’s coffin in our legend, with a resultant feeling of intense loneliness in life, and a contempt, not for other men, but for all they do."

It's probably easier for most people to not think of them as two remaining doors, but two remaining sets. Originally, with one hundred doors, if the goal object is only behind one of them, then there would be a 1/100 probability it would be behind the initially chosen door, which comprises one set, while there's a 99/100 probability that the goal object is behind one of the doors in the set of not originally chosen doors. If 98/99 of the doors in the not originally chosen doors set are excluded as having the goal object, then this does not change that there's a 99/100 probability that the goal object is behind a door in this set, it just means it wasn't one of the other doors in the set.

What would be the offended principle that makes going tit-for-tat with China "hypocritical"?

I'm not sure whether it is as simple as every country being the same in this regard. On the average, I'd assume the average citizen of a non-US country to be more informed about the US political landscape, than vice versa.

I think many companies think they can solve this issue by throwing money at their cyber security teams. It just happens that cyber security teams are often ineffective.

There is no such thing as bad publicity when you are not yet established. When you are already a recognized and popular brand, such as Apple or AB InBev, it can hurt revenue, such as how AB InBev suffered from lower revenue following their own advertisement backlash.

Do you recall how the memory worked for the expanded storage on Palm OS devices that supported it? I had a Sony Clie TG-50, which supported Sony's proprietary pro duo memory cards, allowing me to expand the storage with a 2gb card, from the original 11mg of usable shared memory. I also recall that there was some sort of directory app, which allowed for the observing of files on either the device or the card. I'm curious how this would have worked.

They specifically mentioned a scenario where someone is trespassing into the home. There isn't a single state that has a duty to retreat requirement that pertains to home invaders.

Yelp doesn't need a carve out. It seems like it is more likely a reference to apps like Baidu Maps, which is used by travelers from China. Baidu Maps was banned in India in 2020, but it would be excluded from a similar ban in the US due to that exclusion. It would also exclude Meituan from a ban, which is a Chinese alternative to Yelp.

The US legislation applying to TikTok specifically applies to companies that are considered foreign adversaries. As far as I'm aware, with the exception of possibly Russia and Belarus, the US is not considered to be a foreign adversary by European nations.

The Laughing Man is an antagonist in the 2004 tv series, not the original film.
