For a story like that how do you know "no one" went there? Do you read every newspaper and watch every news report?

It's been debunked to death and was a rumor that was posted to Facebook and then parroted by right-wingers looking to gain votes (it worked). It's a theater of the absurd that we're talking about journalists not doing their job and not the president that either lied about it, or fell for it and amplified it.

> But debanking happens, or has happened, to _almost_ everybody who has some assets and cash, probably from the higher middle class until the ~1%

Can you back up this claim? The wealthier you are the less chance you're going to be debanked. Marc Andressen and all the crypto bros will never have an issue with debanking. Banks are rolling out the red carpet for him and everyone else with his net worth.

What they (1%) want is to own the bank and own (and create) the currency without ever having to be an actual bank. They invest in crypto to make a massive profit, and it's foolish to play along with these things as some sort of benefit to society. Together these guys could end world hunger and still have more money than they would ever need, but no, they've decided VBucks are a pressing issue.

I look at Brave as another business looking to take their cut as a middleman between users and creators. It's an ad network that takes the 30% cut like Apple does to apps making over $1M.

I would much rather that creators who want to make money decide what they want to sell, and how they want to sell it. The web doesn't need a crypto tip jar layer.

Imagine your parents get on a plane and it crashes due to a malfunction. Then imagine five years later the maker of such plane had communications where an employee said "i think something is wrong with x. we should pause work on x" and their manager said "no, the tests with x are within range. you should continue". Then the relatives of people in the crash sue.

I'm not saying who is at fault or who is liable (that's for a judge to decide) but you don't think that communication should be in court? Do you really know the depths that capitalism will go to to make a dollar off of you and everyone you know?

I think they are saying in the US the SWAT team shows up ready for war, while a more measured response would be a couple cops knocking on the door to see what's going on. Obviously the cops don't have a crystal ball and there's not going to be a clean solution here, outside of catching the person earlier.

It sucks this person was so angry and unfeeling to the world at a young age.

> does the guy really fly around so much to make it financially worthwhile to own a jet

I would guess yes.

Do you ever visit or live in a place with unofficial cabs preying on people at an airport? You're acting as if laws were only made by corruption and not because people were screwed over.

I think Uber is probably a net good thing but I also think Uber should be accountable for the laws they broke. Also, Uber, Lyft, Airbnb also did exactly what was expected and increased prices to a ridiculous degree once they became the default standard and went public.

Not even underprivileged people. It's literally everywhere in sports and any kids that watch it are getting inundated with betting and gambling terminology. I find it pretty gross but it's the gears of capitalism ever turning.

It amazes me that this discussion is so heated instead of a topic like X (and most other social platforms) requiring you to have an account to see anything. X only exists because of users contributions, but almost all of them have decided to lock it behind a paywall.

3. A distrust in everything leading to more sway in public opinion.

4. Deniability in everthing that wasactually said. I think it's either Elon Musk or Donald Trump whose lawyers have argued in court/public that you can't be certain they actually said it.

Reading the article I wonder how often YouTube would get sent these messages if it weren't part of the company:

VIOLENT_EXTREMISM, HATEFUL_CONTENT, HARMFUL_HEALTH_CLAIMS, ANTI_VACCINATION

Top five pharma companies had earnings of $82B in 2022. I'm sure some of that is bolstered by vaccine sales but the problem lies in uncapped prices and uncapped greed.

And who owns the most shares of these Companies? Organizations like BlackRock and Vanguard.

I don't know if poster GP is a nutjob but I've noticed more and more of those type of low-quality comments on here. It all sounds like echoes of a distorted news headlines repeated over and over until we get to the point of: "They don't even have the right to life, their country is committing a genocide, and the goverment tries to take most of their money".

I don't disagree with your point but we could probably find a lot of billionaires that use these as well.

> SBF was a sociopath who would (acdg to sworn testimony of his GF) actually go ahead and toss the coin if the outcome was one side results in the world getting twice as good and the other side causes the world to be destroyed, and he DGAF that he was also making the bet for everyone on the planet.

It could be true he's probably a sociopath, but having an edgy philosophical talk with your girlfriend is just that. It could say something about his character but it's nothing more than a fantasy.

Much more damning is stealing all those billions to become rich and famous.
