if it's for internal use, you most likely have access to the DNS-server the clients are using, not an unlikely scenario when it comes to licensed code like this i would imagine.
i would assume they are not contributing but if i wanted to find out if they did, i'd ask them.
should be fairly easy to validate if you know what they're contributing to.

it's a nice feature to have but adding a repo via the web interface didn't take more than a few seconds at most. not quite sure what config & setup you are referring to other than the name of the repo, not a whole lot of other things need to be specified, if any.

you don't actually have to manage type definitions for your own code (unless you're referring to typing parameter/return values), just things that you eg. fetch from the backend. those can be trivially generated by a tool from sample json or you can generate it all from things like OpenAPI.
converting an aurelia project from jspm/esnext to use webpack/typescript with a bunch of plugins/deps like ui-virtualization, d3, bootstrap-datepicker etc. is however not that easy.
