You built Patreon, even that stock photos carousel you have above the fold is ripped from patreon.com but the rest of isn't even built out.

So yeah, you niched down to say creators and IRL tasks, tossed in some sense of community activism.

Well, this is an example of how it really is about ideas and not just execution to reach success.

This is a great idea. Who hadn't thought of some utopian altruism in the middle of a global crisis?

But it's not a good idea. Because you don't have the means to get traction because it's a two sided platform play that without critical mass will not lead to further utility. And because it's merely but a singular use case out of multiple for the larger entrenched competitor.

You need more usage to even build your way into success and you don't have usage because... while this is a great idea it's not a good idea.

But now we're here.

You want to know what to do?

1. Highlight user stories.

Find the most interesting one, make content, share. Segment on a morning infotainment news? Blog articles on guest writing platforms? Sappy robot voice TikTok videos? Reddit?

2. Quit and add this to your portfolio.

Your friends and families don't want to be spammed with this. Don't be weird about it.

Emphasis on progressive web apps in macOS is a good hint with the first wave of apps this will have. Similar to how iPhone first didn't allow for third party apps, this will take the first year to sort out all the HCI before allowing for app store uploads.

This is very much nReal but polished, and those goggles are dim and not as immersive as this. Magic Leap went with the wrong direction it turned out.

Lived in the bay the whole time, did the same thing. Multiple sources, categorization, distances, etc. Chaining GPT for rating is a nifty feature add though.

UberEats losing market share to DoorDash is indicative of UberEats leadership failure. DoorDash engineering is bad, DoorDash policies are bad, DoorDash feeds their PR machine often.

Additionally, UE software is bloated and user-hostile compared to DD and GH.

I used to make these spec pages.

The purpose of these pages is to representative and informative than for selling or marketing.

This is an absolutely great style update.

They have a wonky social network web app built into the onboarding and booking process but it's not very good compared to linkedin, facebook, or even google plus. Their booking software itself is actually pretty bad compared to other room booking software out there.

Social media is this generation's cocaine. It's fun at parties, it's fashionable when done right, but sad when doing it by yourself.

Old school term from the 60's. Here's a book about it.

The irony of all this is that just less than 3 years ago Mark Pincus and Zynga was riding high.

Pincus was voted as the CEO of the Year at the Crunchies. He was chosen to be the closer to Startup School, he projected Zynga as a place for people to want to go to there: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1041758

This is a story parallel to Lance Armstrong's own rise and fall. About how if you were to drill down, really drill down, to find the next ethical, justifiable company that used Facebook to great benefit for humanity you're going to be looking for the 27th, 28th, 29th place organizations. Because frankly, as cynical and as well-duh it is now, what did we spend the greatest of our generations will and brain power on?

A Facebook ponzi scheme.

Now the tide is turning, pendulum swung, omega alpha etc etc and all those wonderful metaphors.

Where to go now? Go fixate on and fix something else. But remember, be nice to everyone on your way up. They're going to be the same people you see on the way down.
