That's lunacy.

One of my favorite quotes, because it was so eye opening to me, was along the lines of "we judge ourselves by our intentions, but others by their actions."

I realized how true and unfair that is, and tried since to understand intentions before making judgment.

Frankly, anyone who tells me that is wrong will never convince me. Maybe I don't fit in this world anymore.

This is under a thread of using "guys", which is what i'm specifically referring to, nothing else. Its common use, and dictionary definition even, is a nonderogatory nongendered word. So I personally feel taking it as gendered or as disrespect is disregarding the meaning of the word, and asking me to accept whatever yours is. Just as me asking nobody to use r words is asking the world to comply with my preferences.

I'm not going to argue right vs wrong or with you directly, I'm just explaining my comment and thought process.

When I was a kid, I couldn't pronounce R's and used to be teased endlessly. Should I demand words with r be banished because they made me uncomfortable? I didn't even know that was an option.

I'm not sure this is the hill I want to die on, but where is the line? How few or many people have to feel a certain way to effect change?

This feels pretty extreme. I was raised in the Midwest where everyone calls everyone 'guys.' Even if I could successfully stop saying it...why? It's very obviously meant with no ill intention.

This doesn't seem as straightforward as 'click the screenshare button to share your screen', which is how it works in xorg mode.

Editing since I can't reply - I didn't mean to come across as rude, sorry for that. Just explaining that as a user, it doesn't work out of the box. Having to explain to users to do the above is not an ideal solution.

https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Cancelling-Headphones-Bluetooth-...

It's not strictly fair because you asked for 20 hours, and these do 30, so perhaps disqualified.

I use a similar model MPOW at home. They sound great! Not like audiophile perfect great, but good enough. I have a kid who likes to play with everything, so $500 headphones are a big no. I'm not arguing that these are dumb, or overpriced, or anything, I don't really care. But there are decent alternatives in this space already.

Well, yeah. It was college only for only 3 years. For about 2-3 years after that it still skewed younger/techie, but past that has turned into a hellhole of vanity, inspirational posters, fwds from grandma, and politics. So, let's say fun for 5, awful for 12.

You're right about buses, but I don't think that's inherent to buses, just how we've implemented them. In other countries, buses are comfortable and air conditioned and basically anyone and everyone rides them. If we could figure out how to make them safe, clean, and comfortable, then of course they wouldn't be empty most of the time, and would run at capacity(which would be a good problem to have).

Rail I think is obviously preferred long term, but setting up a fleet of electric buses could be done in a matter of months, vs a simple limited rail that takes many years.

Just a question - why build public transport at all if it's undesirable? That just pushes everyone who can afford NOT to take it out, which leads to pollution, but worse, the effect that the populace using the public transportation are probably seen by others as 'more undesirable', leading to a snowball effect of people not using it until it's fully subsidized and terrible. That's what basically happened to busses in my old city. Even the less well off people would tell you not to ride one because it's full of crazies/homeless/beggars/etc. We're like, worse off than if they'd never have built it at all.

If we're serious about modernizing and reducing our carbon footprint, we should provide reliable, safe, comfortable transportation that people want to take. Not relegate it as a public service for the needy. (though the both can work together)

Amazon is a total landfill these days. As much as I hate to admit it as such, my wife does reviews for 'free' products, often paying in addition. I could write a novel on how this system works, but in short I'll say, reviews are completely useless.

I'm having trouble following the negative modulo wording or formula. It says % and %% are identical for unsigned integers then below defines it as

a %% b == ((a % b) + a) % b

If that's the case I can't figure out how they are identical for unsigned integers. Or is that example only a hint for how it would work with negatives?

People like easy to read languages. Many years ago, when I first got back into development, I decided to choose to learn Python or Perl. After doing some research, it seemed Perl was more widespread. But Python was easier to read, so I went that route instead(luckily). I think the popularity of Basic and Golang vs their competitors of the time help prove this point. People say that Go is only popular because of Google, but I honestly feel if Rust and Go switched owners, it would have played out the same way.

So, my wife is from SEA. I never bothered to look into the name of their bananas, nor do they know it by any other name, but they are delicious. They are small, and grow more in a straight line than a bunch. While a Cavendish is mostly subtle, these taste like real fruit, more hearty and definitely sweet. So, my question is, why are we in USA stuck with these dud bananas, even in the absence of the Gros Michel?

I ordered an Impossible burger without knowing about the brand, I thought it was just what the restaurant called it. I never suspected a thing until I later read somewhere about the brand Impossible. So, in my case, you're right.

I do understand where sellers are coming from, but as a buyer, this would be a better relationship between them and myself. As is, I typically always prefer/only buy things sold or fulfilled by Amazon, because of this reason. This move would give me more confidence to begin more often considering third party vendors.
