You’re right that Uber and Lyft exist as solutions; I don’t accept cabs as an equally good solution since uber and Lyft’s user experience is way better.

Self driving takes Uber drivers out as the middle man and allows prices to go to 1/5th the current cost; so that is an even better solution, which IMO is a real difference from Current Uber and Lyft.

Yeah, I don’t believe Tesla’s doing self-driving the right way, but I still think the industry itself has a worthy goal.

People with disabilities like epilepsy, which affects 2% of the worlds population.

If you have uncontrolled seizures, then you cannot drive a car, ever.

Uber, Lyft, and Self driving would be a huge boon to these people, enabling them to live independently and still commute.

I think it’s a need in the sense that it’s a safety net.

Being isolated and happy for months at a time definitely seems plausible. But if life gets hard, and you succumb to dark thought patterns, addiction, or a depression, very very difficult to pull yourself out of it by yourself.

Can you expand on your experience? any particular lessons you learned? Seems like you had all the conventional marks of success, I find it hard to believe that that was all for naught.

This is just my personal experience, after using this app for a good 1-2 months, and not using it regularly since.

The concepts and mechanics behind the app (accepting and feeling your emotions) is sound, but for me at least (and others I suspect), you will probably not get sustained relief by JUST using this app for 5-10 minutes a day.

I think for people who are just starting on their journey of accepting their emotions, using this app to heal yourself is like brushing your teeth, when you really need a deep clean from the dentist to throw off a lot of the bad habits that you've learned in your life.

I feel like once you've done a lot of that heavy lifting (essentially dedicated meditation, therapy, whatever), then this process will have an obvious payoff. Otherwise, YMMV with its effectiveness, and you may lose the will to use it.

Just my 2 cents.

Agreed. I count myself as a beginner mountaineer, and while I respect the physical fitness/training required to reach Whitney, unless he did the Mountaineer’s route up to the top, I struggle to envision this guy as more than a fit hiker/backpacker.

Also, telling people they have to hike alone is advice no responsible mountaineer would give. You CAN hike alone, and it can be rewarding, but please understand the risks!
