Yet you only talk about it when it’s big scary Elon. Cry me a river.

Sick burn bro.

I can assure you that just about every American that has made it through middle school has been taught about kinetic energy. Let alone high school.

Not if the US is banning capable models. It’s open source so you wouldn’t need to distill anything.

You criticize the government, perhaps rightfully, but give Anthropic a pass. They are the ones fueling this bullshit. Downgrading your results without telling you. Refusing your requests in the name of “safety”. Even if the government didn’t make them pull the model for foreigners, we’d still be in a really shitty situation because Anthropic is really shitty.

They’re trained professionals. And we’ve sent demand through the roof by convincing everyone and their dog that they need therapy. Despite it seemingly doing way more harm than good for a lot of people who probably don’t need therapy.

> 100% pure JavaScript directly

How did the React community convince so many people of this falsehood? Do that many people just not know what javascript is? It baffles me that one could look at JSX and be like, “that right there is vanilla javascript”.

> Web components are the next big idea. I hope they have a chance to work.

This comment could work equally well in any of the past 15 years. And for all we know, any of the next 15.

I wouldn’t rent my house to someone who has been arrested for memeing. It’s an unnecessary risk with absolutely no upside for me. What happens when they decide to meme on their landlord?

You gonna post a source that this happened? Or are you just spreading FUD?

Have we been using the same Google?

Perhaps they are referring to the syntactic sugar around keyword lists?

[a: 1, b: 2] == [{:a, 1}, {:b, 2}]

Or maybe atom vs string keys in maps?

%{a: 1} vs %{"b" => 1}

Or keyword lists always needing to come last in lists?

[some: :value, :another] # error

[:another, some: :value] # valid

Or maybe something else entirely. Those are just things I remember having to lookup repeatedly when I was first learning elixir.

An offense, sure. But it’s not a “crime” in the US.

> generally means doing busywork and/or thinking of ways to cheat/manipulate their customers and the market for maximum gain whole delivering minimum value

When I read comments like this I can’t help but wonder where people like you work. It’s completely unrepeatable to me. I work with really good people, all the way to the tip, and no try to make money by increasing value for our customers.

Apple, Google, Walmart, Amazon, Home Depot, Anthropic, Toyota, and a hundred other companies all offer me incredible value for so cheap. Why are people so cynical about a world that offers them unimaginable riches everywhere they look.

Sure there are bad companies. And if you work at one of those, go get a new job.

This take might have sounded convincing a year ago. Now it just sounds foolish. The best coders on the planet are using AI. Why wouldn’t they use this?

Which is perfectly adequate for 95% of applications. Hell, it’d probably improve most applications if they adopted some proven shade of gray.

Why do people feel that each and every tool they use needs its own unique look and feel? And why are people willing to pay more for that? In some cases, sure. For my smart sprinkler app.. I don’t give a damn if it looks like 1000 other apps.

Very high quality comment that is being downvoted unfairly because it defends AI. HN is on the wrong side of history on this one.

Software already exists that has been written by Claude. They absolutely are selling the means to write software, and the means to securing the insecure software. At least for the time being. In the future Mythos will probably just make it possible to prompt good software from the start.

If you’re still an AI skeptic at this point, I don’t know what sort of advancement could convince you that this is happening.
