I'm glad you asked this. I had a small project on the weekend to build a persistence of vision toy and thought I'd give this "vibecoding" thing a try and work with an LLM.

I learned quite a lot in the process, mostly that I need to think in tiny systems. I was expecting I could feed the hardware environment into the LLM and prompt for an output. I was not expecting that I need to instruct the LLM to deliver code that was human-edit/readable.

I'm appreciating the advice in the comments to this post.

This reminds me of the workshop tool scavenger hunt from Scope of Work. Even as an adult I still encounter new machines and tools that I've never heard of... and it's /fascinating/ to learn there are machines and tools to do such specific things!

I enjoy the "what does this thing do" of farm implements.

There are times when I'm masked (ie: 3M respirator) and gloved at work for 10+ hours at a time. I wonder if speech recognition would be possible without breaking the face seal during silent speech. This could be beneficial for other types of work in hazardous environments.

(My current solution is to tear the fingertip off my offhand glove so I can unlock and use my device....)

Now I want to make a custom Times New Roman font with unpredictable ligatures and 0-width vector data so poorly monitored systems create false data when printed in hardcopy.

Thank you so much for this. I've been through 3 terrible thermometers in the last year and have been looking for a replacement.
