Still less than 1% of the population, and that number could dwindle if and when treatment sorts out the underlying problems with the mental wiring causing the gender dysmorphia, and the current trend dies out.
Another instance of SJW types causing problems in the coding world (although the vast majority of actual coders aren't on the SJW train).
The fact is gender can be determined by appearance in 99.5% of circumstances or more, which is probably higher than the overall accuracy of their ML labelling system.
The idea of "avoiding unfair bias" is highly vague and problematic since, theoretically nearly any statement or view beyond "particle X is at Y" type statements has a somewhat "unfair" bias reflecting the lens of the human experience, which has developed over millions of years of biology and thousands of years of culture.
Finally, seeing as the fact is that 99% of people would not be negatively affected by this feature remaining whatsoever, and the very slight negative impact on the other (intersex type) 1% or so is minimal at best, while the total impact of removing the feature is mildly annoying for many users, this seems a lot like irrational, hollow, virtue signalling.
Possibly. But I remember very specifically thinking about the person in question prior to receiving the message.
We really don't understand that much about consciousness (or many other phenomena). It's not that outlandish that there may be some strange behaviour of time. Many physicists suggest its structured more like strings or otherwise more "liquid" than a linear timeline
I have experienced several instances where I dream that I am with some friend/colleague/etc e.g. helping him/her solve some problem.
Upon waking up, I check my phone and then sure enough that same friend has in fact contacted with the same or similar message as in my dream.
In several instances these are people I haven't heard from in a long time, with some very hard to guess specific reason why they contacted me. (E.g. a long time friend asking me to help his dad with something).
My memory is very clear that I had the dream and processed it (with some reaction of 'huh strange, fancy dreaming about that guy) before I opened my phone and found the text/email from that person. But is that memory being rewritten somehow afterwards?
Or is there perhaps some kind of vaguely wavefunction/quantum/etc phenomena that leads some information to be transmitted back in time by a few minutes? Hard to say, but definitely food for thought
No because nobody has any idea what the 'soul' or 'mind' is. For all we know it may be possible to completely remove our soul from our body and exist in a different way and enter into another. Nobody knows
While there is little to no scientific (physical) evidence of another 'dimension' or of the existence of a soul or consciousness, there is also no evidence against it.
The claim that chemical reactions in the brain have been proved to be responsible for everything we experience is simply not true.
We are still not really sure of what causes dreams, what causes near death experiences.
We also have no scientific explanation for a surprising correlation between all of the worlds religions (even those of civilizations milennia removed from one another), or of a surprising consistency in the experiences of those who have been clinically 'dead.'
While I am not religious, this is a classic example of arrogance in the name of science.
We do not have any recorded data on what happens after death.
And if we were to rely purely on claimed observations (of which there are literally millions), then there is definitely a plethora of evidence for the existence of some plane above our own.
Indeed we cannot even develop a method to get rid of the common cold, or of cancer. Which compared to understanding precisely what causes self awareness, consciousness, that 'knowledge' that there is something 'seeing' out of our eyes, using our brains, something maybe more than we know of already... compared to understanding all that, beating cancer or the common cold should be a walk in the park.
The fact is, we can't solve either, and our knowledge of the human body is still incredibly infantile. Let's try to take some baby steps before we can claim to know what happens in the mind, or the 'soul.'
You can build apps with Visual C# or Delphi or many other RADs with relatively very little coding.
IE a basic wordpad - type text editor with some rich text editing would consist of:
- dropping a RichText control on a form (an empty window), and giving it a name ('editor')
- dropping buttons on the form, graphically placing them, and selecting captions, etc.
- Setting onClick events for the buttons, and placing code to the effect of ('editor.selection.font.style = 'bold';)
