These tests always make me wonder: What qualifies as a valid pattern rule?
For example, why wouldn't "0" be a correct answer here (rule being "every other number on the right should be 0, other numbers do not have a pattern")?
The information you can get from light miscroscope images is quite limited though.
On the other hand, maybe it would be enough to filter out every cell that is not identified as a blood cell. This should be an easier task.
Probably we could direct only a small part of blood into this filtering machine at a time. Sounds like it would be still more like a machine detecting if there are cancer cells present in the bloodsteam rather than a machine eliminating metastasization.
I think the "cure cancer without biology" approach makes somewhat sense (I assume you would still need some biology :) ). Don't many surgeries already fall into this category? Let's say we made an automated colonoscopic machine that scanned the whole intestine and destroyed all abnormal colonic crypts. Now if this machine worked well, you would essentially cure at least those colon cancers that go through some aberrant crypt stage.
This is interesting since I remember having much lower latency for 3G, perhaps < 50 ms, about 10 years ago. :) At that time, some of my friends were even using the home 3G to play games.
Most of these historical disruptive technologies seem to affect only a relatively small group of professionals or then small part of human skills. Therefore there are not too many people complaining and also most of these people can find some new jobs, perhaps after retraining.
On the contrary, AI could affect large groups of professionals and large (if not all) part of human skills. The protests opposing AI might then be completely different scale than the previous protests.
Also the an individual losing their job would suffer more since there might be nothing they could do, even after retraining, that AI couldn't.
I think the point of "But it is only electricity" means that _currently_ the situation is not as good as one might think based on electricity production.

I guess the problem, and the point of the parent post, is that the full containment of the omicron variant might be very difficult in the long term.
Also since the omicron is milder and vaccines rather effective (as long as you don't refuse taking one), it's worth asking how much collective good is gained by personal inconvenience.
