it's ok with sex change. but race... me: can race be changed? ChatGPT: No, race cannot be changed because it is a social construct based on physical and cultural characteristics that are typically assigned at birth. Race is not determined by genetics or biology, and therefore cannot be altered through medical or other interventions.<...>

me: can you give examples of black racism? ChatGPT: <...> It is important to note that while these actions may be hurtful or offensive, they do not carry the same weight or impact as the systemic and institutionalized racism that people of color face, and they do not represent a widespread societal issue in the same way that racism against people of color does.

I'm, for example, even not considering Amazon/Google/Facebook now. Job switch is quite stressful. There is no point without stability or fat paycheck. And looks like personal level doesn't matter much when the whole team is terminated.

There is no other way. If they want something done they need someone to do it. Layoffs make them less attractive. So they will have to either rise the wages or accept less qualified candidates. The difference in performance between average and top engineers can be time. Or even infinite, when one simply cannot do the thing.

And this is, BTW, applicable through the whole range. Just check Intel market capitalization, and guess what? It's now smaller then AMD, and 6x times smaller then NVidia. The reason: top management, they failed on AI, graphics, they failed on Cloud. Yes, they did something, not enough.

More like moped, powered, with small wheels, definitely not off-road. Still good if you don't mind going the same way again and again. Or going "in the wild" only to find out someone is already there.

BTW, animals do make tool. Even some insects (ChatGPT told me last night :)).

It all depends. Most of my coworkers are friendly, some are friends. We respect each other, etc, but it most cases any contacts end when someone leaves the company. The key marker is can I discuss any matters, including inappropriate, politically incorrect? In most cases not. But with true friend we can discuss anything without a fear of being reported. And we are still in contact many year after.

It should be possible to attach 'accelerators' or 'special skills'. So that when playing with ChatGPT you will be actually facing GNU Chess.

Interesting, this isn't the only life changing invention. Riding horseback was one of them. Cars, then GPS. Internet instead of books. Social sites instead of in-person skills. And so on.

The main danger of AI 'experts' is, in my opinion, the information bubble they create. They not only suggest, eventually they will drive your thoughts. In the direction their builders want. That will be crowd control even worst than Facebook was at it's peak. Currently we know that ChatGPT has woke bias embedded. But that's not the end, right?

Not surprising taking into account how much of headache they generate.

there were reports from Microsoft recently as well. If I remember correctly their version of ChatGPT given a task in plain English generated actions script for a robot.

So, we are getting closer to AI 'Goblin'. Almost generic, sub-human, embodied AI

The question is, was it predictable, did Mark realize it from the beginning? Definitely he does it now. I think "Second Life" was similar, then it degraded to just adult entertainment at selected locations. It was 2D, but popular from start.

Not that easy. My experience, I was a client for a long time (>10 years).

One day I was unable to log in. After logging successfully a message popped up demanding debit card activation. Every time I pressed 'cancel' I was logged out. That lasted for months. Effectively they locked me out of online access. By then I moved everything to another bank, so it wasn't a big problem. Then I visited their branch in person and requested all my accounts to be closed. I repeated 'All of them'. They did it, or pretended. I left being sure I'm done with Citi forever. But no, they kept debit card account open, without telling me. For charging purposes, as they don't provide any services, and they know it.

If locking out (they did build and activate this functionality in their system) was the bottom of banking. Silent not closing on request and demanding money for 'service' is a scum. My recommendation: Stay away from Citi.

How long does it take? Just want to check if there are cops around before taking out a drone...

Now just put it together. CV, mechanical body, and GPT. And you get an idiot robot, almost indistinguishable from real AGI

Well, this makes Google less attractive for "could be" employees. They will have to lower the bar. Many with brains and ideas will choose startups.

For Google this will backfire, former employees will be working for competitors soon.

My Autel EVO II flies impressively well tracking me in dense forest. May be not as good, I don't have Skydio, so can't say. All I'm saying is that gap between advanced hobbyist with off the shelf components and one of the best on the market is just a few years. Cheap mass production is a completely different story. And not surprisingly there are many startups with new ideas. I may join one one day. (my stereo cameras are coming, Jetson is waiting)

It's not a replication. Only part of the software. Flying obstacles avoiding drone have been in labs for years. As for hardware nobody can beat China where almost all components are made. I can put them together in custom drone, many do it. You can even by a kit on ebay. It will have controller which takes care of balance. It can handle many physical configurations and hover drone in place. All that is needed is external 'decision making device' which will replace the human pilot with remote. Obvious choice is Jetson Nano. There is nothing new here today, that's what I'm saying. Just put things together. To make it work comparably to commercial drone will take significant efforts. Not that much to beat 5-10 years old products. Not sure they even existed 10 years ago.

The funny thing, I may try it. I'm more interested in 360 degree 3d scanner. But having that it's easy to put it on drone. I have a bunch of them, so it will be almost free.

It's getting easier and easier to make such a drone. I mean it's within the reach of a single developer with $1000 budget. When Skydio came out it was some sort of break through (if we forget DJI and Autel), but now it's not that impressive, sort of normal. There are many models and libraries. NVidia has the whole zoo of them optimized for small devices. For free. I'm pretty sure even my level is enough to make a flying obstacles avoiding drone. I would use of the shelf hardware, of course. Objects tracking, waypoints isn't a problem. BTW, this would make a nice open source project. The problem is, in wrong hands it can do a lot of damage.
