If we assume that governments aren't going to address climate change and coordination between private citizens is unlikely to be enough to stop it, has anyone written anything on what individuals should do to avoid its effects?

It feels like we are at the point where we should be talking a lot more about how live decent lives assuming that prevention and mitigation are unlikely.

It's interesting to me that most cyberpunk manga isn't Japanese cyberpunk.

Can you expand on that? There is a long history of warrior codes, just war theory, war crimes, etc. Certainly they have virtually always been followed imperfectly, but I'm not sure that means that they don't exist.

Wage theft is the most common form of theft in America.

Can someone explain to me:

I have big problems with how AI companies stole artist's art and I have big concerns with how AI might be overused or misused. However, I don't understand how people can still say that AI is useless. Everyday when I use AI I am impressed with everything it can do. Particularly in coding, AI is useful right now (this may or may not be due to how messy the codebase that I'm working in is).

To be clear, this isn't a rhetorical question. I'm wondering what I am missing that other people are seeing.

The thing that I never hear discussed is how long it will take these "new jobs" to materialize and how much they will pay.

That's not a good characterization. All of he lower courts basically laughed it out of the court room. The fact that the Supreme Court even took the case on is pretty questionable.

Four of the justices dissented on something that by any reasonable reading should have been a unanimous decision. That is a BIG problem because that means that almost half of the Supreme Court are off their rockers.

A reasonable initial place to draw the line might be "owns slaves".

Ya, screw all those people who have to suffer in the short term!

The main point is that there isn't an epidemic of gatling gun crimes in America.

It would be hilarious if homeopathy turned out to be right!

(To be clear, I don't think that will actually happen, but it would be hilarious if it did!)

Doesn't parallel construcction mean that judges actually don't care how evidence was collected? They can't possibly care that much if they are fine with a fig leaf like parallel construction.

That's not what Trump's doing. He's just trying to pick and choose winners so that he can reward his allies and punish his enemies.

Regulating when the need arises requires also compensating the people who get hurt in the meantime.

I'd say something like: If you provide it to one company then you have to provide it to all companies. If you aren't comfortable with that, then either nationalize it or accept that no one gets it.

People saw change coming, they just don't have the ability to do anything about it.

You can't retire without wealth and switching to the trades is not going to get you wealth in the time people are talking about (i.e. 10 to 15 years until retirement)

I think that the issue most people have is that the degree to which they would need to be profitable in order to pay back their debt is not realistic. It is unlikely that they would be able to get that large a portion of US GDP and if they did then there will likely be riots in the streets.

That sounds a lot like trying to deceive your users.
