Not read it, but 1/f frequency distribution is pink noise. Is your point that the origin of the oscillations is different? It is natural to wonder about common causes for common patterns no? Eg thermodynamics and black holes. So doesn't necessarily seem to be a poor analogy
That a serious scientist can believe this leads me to consider the economic benefits of believing such nonsense, rather than prompting me to examine it further. Just total rubbish
Think what we're all learning here is that you have neither a sense of humour nor a sense of perspective. What actual bad thing happened here? It's just a fun whimsical incident. I actually think it says more about your self esteem than anything else that you read this as self-congratulatory
E-readers and books both have their strengths, but these days I read 95% on my Kindle. Things I like:
- instant look up of words and vocabulary builder
- highlights and notes - I would find it very onerous to keep a paper notebook to the same level of detail (I know some do - kudos)
- search across books. For history books this is brilliant: 'Hmm La Mettrie, rings a bell ... oh yeah him'. Like having your own mini, super high quality wikipedia (or indeed www)
